This is getting ridiculous.. The leg that evolution stands on is time.. You start whittling that away and we move from evolution .

I'm not certain what you meant by "You start whittling that away and we move from evolution". Do you mean that because they are pushing the date of life forming on this planet back closer to the creation of earth and as such evolution wouldn't have "enough time" to work? The thing is we don't know how fast life evolved on this planet, it could have taken a few million years years or few hundred thousand years... we don't know, at least not yet anyway.

I completely agree. When people talk about possible high technology ancient civilisations rising and falling that our current historical paradigm fails to recognise, most are talking about a relatively recent civilisation...on the order of only a few tens of thousands to perhaps a hundred thousand years ago..rose and fell with only sparse traces left for us to puzzle over.

Many would never go on to expand that thinking beyond the theorised pre-civilisation high tech society that possibly existed thousands of years before our history acknowledges. But it is entirely possible, from a time perspective at the least, that many, many high tech civilisations came before, the majority of the evidence for which could easily have been obliterated aeons, perhaps millions of years (plus) ago.

In theory, those previous high technology civilisations don't necessarily have to be Human based one's..but some other as yet unknown form of creature which came, flourished, developed technology - perhaps even high technology, and after relatively brief period of time (hundreds of thousands of years is a blink of an eye geologically speaking) for whatever reason or reasons became extinct, the evidence for them crumbling and disappearing completely over the vast amounts of time that could be involved.

Of course, if it is the case that there is no evidence left behind at all, it is likely we'd never know one way or the other and can only speculate on the possibilities of these many high tech civilisations that may have been dominant on this (and perhaps other) world.

Who knows...perhaps ET is actually indigenous..or at least was many hundreds of millions of years ago and are coming back to see what we've done with their old stomping ground we now call Earth.

So you are speculating without evidence that there were previous civilisations,
Are you aware of the contrary evidence ?
