Curious about your avatars

I have a fear of spiders, but think they are beautiful animals.

Everyday i'm on ATS i look my fear in the eyes.

Keeps the nightmares away.

And they lurk in the shadows, watching every move "you" make...

Mine was from a rock band I was in named AWAKE. We did a few albums and then split up. "I am noone" was going to be our last album which never happened. I've had a love affair with music since I was six years old. It is a huge part of my life and has saved me many times. Just today my current band Quitting Heaven completed our last album after ten years together. I'm just not up to the time, lugging equipment, etc. it requires any more. But I will always play and write.

Edit: I made it myself with a 3D package and a movie editor software. Just for fun, i decided later to use it as avatar here.

I had an assignment in my Drawing I class to do five self portraits, so I decided just to do them of my nose and eyes and eyebrows to try and capture emotional expression. This one is of my Mr. Potato Head angry eyes, and since most of the things I comment on generally irritate me, it seemed appropriate.

Plus, I like simplicity, so a little gradient and a multiplied scan of my drawing, and there you have it.

Mine represents balance; the yin yang itself has been appearing to me throughout my life and it usually is a reminder that balance is key in all things. The little squiggly thing is just my initials in a cool, little shape. There is an outlining of a Phoenix in the middle; which is a tip to my first born. I am not religious, just philosophical; and weird stuff happens to me on a consistent basis.

Mine is of me jumping over the pyramids of Giza. I spent half a year living in Italy, exploring much of Europe and North Africa. I have always had a love for anything ancient and this photo symbolizes my conquering of a dream I had for many many years. It's also perfectly timed and it just brings back a lot of happy, positive memories. Nothing will ever beat climbing up the side of the great pyramid after paying off the Cairo police officers on duty. I miss it dearly, but look forward to many new adventures in the future.

My avatar is poking fun at the people who are always going on about how ET disclosure is just around the corner. It's a South Park joke, but if you recognize the guy in the avatar you should get the joke without having seen that South Park episode.

Mine is very simple. I found it on google images, and yes it looks a lot like me.

I am first and foremost a grandma

I am constantly "flying" around taking care of grandchildren

taking care of elderly parents

teaching marriage and parenting through my mega-church
(I am a retired college prof who used to teach marriage, parenting, child and human development)

In some ways I feel at times like "super grandma"
as I am now a resource for many young families in my community

Cool Thread!! Good idea! I even wrote a poem called "Our ATS Avatars" about how all our Avatars tell something about us!

I use to use a Dragon. Because Dragons Rock! I would change it often to another Dragon. I love em!! A friend of Mine here, BugWhisperer made Me an image for Me of Me, as a Dragon, and My Wife, member CCBears here who uses a PolarBear for Her Avatar. I cut part of it out to use for My Avatar You see here now. It is an awesome Full SIzed Image, and even the smaller part here in My Avatar Rocks!! I'll post the full size for You to see as well, just a sec......

My original avatar was a rendition of my angel, if you ever see it on ATS, it means there has been a birth or a death.


I'm a biker and Humanseh made me this one years ago, but I added the monkey to remind me not too drink to much (Whiskey being the monkey on my shoulder)


I recently celebrated 10 years as a member here, and as a present OperationMindcrime made me this rather sexy little number you see now.

We love making avatars and so wearing one from a fellow artist is a kind of homage to the BTS: Avatar Creations team.

Yea, well I was in my bed sleeping when my Ex-wife shot me with the 12 ga. so staying inside doesn't seem to matter anymore! I had been divorced for 7 years when she came in the house and caught me slacking.

I just have to live one day at a time and see what presents itself. I was in a high risk job anyway, so I didn't have a problem with any eventuality.

Behold Shoes...believe it or not, was the start of a paragraph attempting to show how evolution could not be real!

It reminded me of the film, "The Life of Brian", which then brought home the realization that some people will find reasons to believe, or not believe in all manner of things. And no amount of rational argument, or solid evidence will sway their beliefs.

Mine has a bit of a history to it.

About 12 years ago, I was just starting to get used to the internet. Well, I stumbled onto a forum that was about as large as ATS called Astral Society. If you can imagine a place that had as many members as we do, and about twice as many articles, special guests, posts, and everything devoted to metaphysics, this was "the place" for people like me (I came here when the forum finally split and died; the version remaining is a skeleton of its former existence).

Well, when I was a member there, my first avatar was a crop circle. After the site crashed and burned (along with all my journal articles), I moved over to here. Seeing as I didn't want to give up the cropcircle theme, I tried to make my own. And it stuck.
