Alien animals as pets on Earth.

We all seen it, movies, futurama, simpson, etc. What if we found animals from another planet and bring them back as pets because people demand them for some stupid reasons? Either cute and furry to creepy and dangerous like a dog.

How well do you think they will fare with our pets like dogs and cats? What about natural animals like Bears, Rabbits, etc?

The other funny thing is, what if the aliens chose to act like animals, but instead they are actually intelligent just to get us to take them back to our home planet? Possible secret takeover or invasion.

To be fair that is not an alien,That's Hallucigenia-one of the first critters to occupy our oceans.

You can't just take a creature out of it's natural habitat and expect it to adapt-it's hard enough to domesticate our own earthly species let alone one from another planet with a different atmosphere, ecosystem, etc.

We have platypuseses (plural?) ..... and jackalopes.

What more do we need?

I can imagine the discussion with the neighbour:

"Hey, your Dalek exterminated on my lawn again. "

Seriously though: I doubt aliens will be kept as pets in the future. Factors to consider in:

-pet's sensibility to Earth viruses
-Earth's atmosphere - can the pet breathe?
-pet's level of danger to humans
-pet's level of danger to other animals (including wild animals)
-alien food income

etc.

Or the aliens could come and take us for their pets. Think on Planet of the apes.

Bringing them here ignoring the fact that they could out smart or become an invasive species.

Look at America when they brought Bees, and crocodiles as pets(flushing them down the sewers).

America itself is becoming infested with invasive species from Spiders -> Snakes. Even plants can be an invasive species, it is what I heard in a crocodile tour down at Orlando.

Don't forgot rich corporations/mad scientists bringing them back just to do experiments. I'm very sure Big Pharma would love to bring aliens animals back to experiment on. Someone evil or stupid will either release them in the wild.

I was 4 when we lived in Guam. Brown snakes were an invasive species, so what did they do? Bring in another invasive species to deal with them, the Iguana. As a child it was not unusual to see lizards climbing your bedroom walls or on your bed for that matter. My dad was seriously getting tired of me screaming for help though. LOL I really one evening I was sleeping and I woke to a lizard on my legs. I woke screaming, flapping the sheets trying to get the bugger off, I sent it flying across the room, still screaming my fool head off, freaked out of my gourd, my dad was pissed as he had to fly a B-52 in in 3 hours and needed sleep, I don't think island life was for me. LOL I think he was kind of grateful for the earthquake in the 70's that forced us to evacuate the island. LOL

And in this forum(not thread), we got people telling other people to buy cats. Typical humanity think they are free.
