another dream.
i woke up and quickly began to forget the dream. what i write is the end to a longer dream.
i am following a small white dog and a crow. the small white dog is walking in front of me. leading me. the crow is flying ahead of me. hopping from
tree branch to fence post. the sky is clear and the sun is out. a cool breeze touches my skin. the strange dream city begins to turn familiar. the
change continues and i realize i'm in my old neighborhood. the crow and small white dog are leading me back to the home i grew up in. the houses are
exactly like they were when i was a child. the neighborhood still has the open fields not the developed housing like today. it's comfortable. the
crow and small white dog continue to lead me up the sidewalk towards my home. i feel calm. i walk up to my old home. the dog is already in the open
garage. the crow is sitting in the tree out front. i walk into the garage. there are two doors one that leads to the kitchen and a second that is
already open to the back yard. i stand in the garage i see my bicycle, the rusty old garden tools and the beat up old lawn mower. just like they were
when i was a child. i turn my attention back to the small white dog. the crow flies in the garage and lands on the washing machine. i follow the small
white dog to the back yard. i notice chicken wire fencing in half the yard. this is where the dog lives. the dog is staring beyond the fence. it's
green but wild. a raw beauty. the small white dog looks at me as to say, "take down this fence so i can explore the area beyond." no words only the
understanding of what the dog wanted. i look down at the dog and point at the straw bed, at the fresh food, and bowl of clean clear water. i say to
the dog, "you have everything you need here. you don't need to go out past the fence." i turn back to the garage. the door leading to the kitchen
is open. i enter. the kitchen still has the old 1970's counter top and cupboards. the reliable and stained mr. coffee is sitting next to the sugar
cup. the old wooden table with the plastic table cloth exactly like it was when i was a kid. i pick up a small package of oreo cookies from the table
and walk to my childhood bedroom. in there in a cage is the crow. it has clean water and a comfortable perch. it wants out. but i say to it, "you are
safe here. you have food and clean water. and my company." i hand it a cookie. the crow looks at the cookie and pecks at it. i close the door to the
cage. for the first time in this dream i feel sad. i sit on my childhood bed and stare out the window. the yellow light of the sun beaming a
comfortable light into my room.
i woke up.
well ATS'ers?
what do you think?
