This Wouldn't negatively effect my New Years resolution to give up health food would it?

Believe it or not, poutine can be found at McDonald's.
Barf...gag,blech. Actually tried it last week. Never again. Wendys makes my favorite poutine, with Harveys a close second. Non fast food places are my husbands favorite pick for poutine. Can't beat making it yourself though and experimenting with different meat and gravy.

I'm a Canadian who loves french fries and gravy and has to make dates with this fattening but delicious food. Then I smother it all with salt and ketchup!

But I don't like poutines, mozzo on gravy does not appeal to me and yes, I did try it. Most people do though, my kids think its delicious.

I was up there years ago and was served Maple Pie. Looked like mud. We all looked at it.
I took a bite. Oh, yum.
next time I'm up there I'll try the poutine (vairation of 'pudding'?)

one vote in favor of well-buttered, tender, grits and shrimp. it can be awesome (esp wi a touch of caramelized onion...)

Actually poutine is local French for "a mess" or something like that

So you've discovered that we're not so crazy and backwards afterall, eh ?

The next time you sink your teeth into some Canadian cuisine, try a slice of tourtiere... with a side of poutine, of course.

My favourite tourtiere recipe:

1 double crust pie pastry
1 lb ground pork
1 lb ground beef
1 cup grated potatoes
1/2 cup grated onion
3 garlic cloves minced
1/4 tsp savory
1/4 tsp sage
1/8 tsp ground cloves
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg beaten with 2 tbsp water

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the pork, beef, potatoes and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the garlic, seasonings and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.

Remove from the heat; cool to room temperature. Stir in bread crumbs. Combine egg with 2 tablespoons of water; stir into meat mixture. The bread crumbs and egg help your meat pie to hold together when you slice into it.

Preheat oven to 400°. Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom pastry; trim even with edge. Fill with meat mixture. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie; place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in pastry. Cover edges loosely with foil.

Bake 15 minutes. Remove foil. Reduce heat to 375°; bake 30-35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

We have poutine and what do you offer in return...GRITS? Not a fair trade whatsoever!

Put some butter, cheese, and bacon in them, and they are great. Especially with fish. I don't know why, but they go GREAT with fish.

You're in CR? Cool. I lived there for most of the 70's. I just got off FB messaging with my oldest friend that still lives there.

Poutine? I make my own. Hard to beat homemade gravy.
