Read some of your link, the usual drivel being pushed by anti-Christians because it somehow 'proves' something... Yet doesn't. There are no contradictions in the Bible, just your lack of understanding.

How do you know that the bible is the infallible word of god? Because it says so? Well, can't argue with that. How convenient.

Odd how so many anti-Christians use snark, mostly because they have nothing else to distract folks from the truth. If you actually bothered to READ the Bible, instead of you know, simply believing whatever you were TOLD (because THEY SAID SO!), you would know that it is truth. Instead you sit there acting superior, when you are in fact, not.

I've read it, cover to cover, more than once, and I have come to a different conclusion than you.

Right. They aren't contradictions. I'm just not understanding it right. Classic Christian copout answer. Did it ever occur to you that maybe you don't see the contradictions because you don't WANT to see them? You know because of your confirmation bias and all. I mean you already let the circular reasoning believing that the bible is the truth because the bible told you so. Obviously you aren't looking at the information rationally.

To judge or not to judge.
Is it okay to lie?

Much of the bible is lists of things you aren't allowed to do, except when you are allowed to do these things (contradictions).

Paul wrote Romans while Nero was in power so what do you expect him to say?

Paul would also have realized that he was living under 'these kings' Daniel 2:44 and that Nero was one of them and therefore one of the 'horns' of the fourth kingdom of Daniel 7.

So in this sense Nero was established by God in that he was predicted to arise.

Thou shalt not kill... unless god tells you to, in which case kill all you want, even children and babies. Abortion? That's totally wrong... unless god orders it of course.

What a glorious god!

So since Nero was the ruler, he was God's agent for our good. That's why he murdered Christians, because he was doing it for their good. He didn't raise his sword against wrongdoers either, which is why he raised his sword against those who spread Jesus' gospel right? They were wrong for spreading the truth! Why else would he have killed them? Paul says rulers only punished wrongdoers... right?

Right, makes total sense.

You're talking to Christians right? Because that's pretty much exactly what the majority do. They accept what their pastor tells them without question, a good majority never bothering to read it themselves.

There are no contradictions in the Bible

Uhm... and you're telling others to read the bible?

Heres a quick one for you...

What was in the ark?

Well lets see...

1 Kings 8 says:

There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

but wait... the New Testament says this:

Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

no contradicions indeed.... LOL!!

Contradiction abounds in that book my friend... theres literally hundreds of them...

but you do have to read it to find that out... not just listen to what they tell you

perhaps you didn't know that?

You must be mistaken, the bible doesn't hold any error in it. /sarcasm

Matthew 27
9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.

Let's ignore the fact that Matthew is quoting Zechariah and not Jeremiah. These guys could do no wrong, if you disagree then you'll suffer for eternity.

The best thing to do is to ignore the contradictions and outright mistakes because heaven is you're reward if you refuse to think critically.

"If you seek, you will find."

What exactly is it that makes shoving one viewpoint down people's throats equivalent to seeking? Having the "truth" handed to you on a silver platter is not seeking, it is receiving then refusing to move or look anywhere else.

This is what Paulianity teaches:

2 Corinthians 5
7 For we live by faith, not by sight

How does one expect to find anything if they're just walking around blindly? How many treasure hunters walked around blind folded and prayed to find their treasure and actually found it? None. Christians are blind folded and don't even realize it.

Here is the first contradiction in the new testament. In Mathew v1 to v25, they give the genealogy of Jesus back to Abraham through Joseph. However, if God was Jesus father, then the genealogy should be through his mother Mary not Joseph. This genealogy is simply made up and on its face is a contradiction since it is the genealogy of a non blood relation, i.e. Joseph. Therefore, the first 25 verses of the New Testament are wrong. Should we go on?

I grew up in a strong Christian family of pastors and professors of theology. I was indoctrinated and I have read the bible. To question is to understand. To believe blindly is faith, but in what? The strongest evidence I felt the bible had was the fact that Paul knew Peter. Therefore, his writing should be true. But, Paul resolved his disagreements with Peter his way. Since Peter was there, and Paul wasn't, that is troubling and problematic. The real truth is that history is written by the victor and the bible is not different.

Finally, the book of Revelation is outlandish. The fact that we have political leaders on the far Christian Right who believe this rubbish and even indicate they will make political decision based on it, is very frightening. Believe what you want, but, please don't push that on the rest of us.

I've read it. I grew up in a Christian home, went to church every week. I even lived by a book called "created to be his helpmeet" which is a wife's guide to marriage based on Paul's teachings in Corinthians.

Guess where that got me? Walked all over like a door mat, and feeling like I just needed to try harder. I'd think "It's not his fault. I just need to do better." Then eventually depressed because guess what? That bs doesn't work. Paul made it up.

I don't try to come off as snarky. This is a forum. It's for debate. I'm not going to agree to a non factual statement like the bible being infallible just because you say so.

I'm sorry if you feel disrespected but I feel like Paul's ideas have made life very dificult for a lot if people through out history. He is a personal enemy of mine, but I believe religion as a whole is pretty destructive as well.
