WASHINGTON (Reuters) - People's brains react to a photograph of a frightened face, even when it is flashed on a screen too quickly to be consciously recognized, U.S. researchers said on Wednesday.
The team at Columbia University in New York found responses in the amygdala, the part of the brain associated with emotional responses, as well as the attention and vision regions of the cerebral cortex.
"What we think we've identified is a circuit in the brain that's responsible for enhancing the processing of unconsciously detected threats in anxious people," said Amit Etkin, who led the study.
"Our study shows that there's a very important role for unconscious emotions in anxiety," Etkin said.

Excellent point about lucid dreaming, MemoryShock. When I try to explain lucid dreaming to some people they cringe as if I am telling them how to pull their own teeth. It's funny/tragic to observe.

Love, however, removes all fear from a person and seeks no manipulation of others.

I guess my point is that if one is polarized toward love, their subconscious mind won't be affected by this subliminal imagery quite so much.
I have heard and experienced love being used as an excuse for manipulation......arguably that is the manipulation of the term and not an actual feeeling of the emotion, but as a result, I am skeptical of the concept.
the instillation of love as a concept could lead to an acceptance of propaganda that illustrates love so that money is exchanged. Love is a tricky emotion and is subjectively different for everyone.

Any love that has needs in imperfect love, if (I can be allowed to pontificate like that).

In it's truest form, love has no needs but instead radiates itself to fill the needs of others.
