Planning on:

baby back ribs
boneless bufalo wings
guacamole n chips
various cheeses and fruits n crackers
lil smokies in bbq (a tradition... have had these once a year, every year on super sunday for decades lol)

The bbq sauce is my own recipe. Sort of a Texas infused KC bbq sauce. Same sauce for finishing the ribs.

Recipe:
1 cup ketchup
1 cup tomato sauce
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
2 -3 teaspoons hickory-flavored liquid smoke
1 tablespoon butter
1 very finely chopped fresh jalapeno
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon sweet smoky paprika
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix it all together and simmer about 30 minutes. Adjust by taste for heat, sourness, sweetness and smokiness. Simmer longer for thicker.

I just love the complexity of flavors going on with this. Sweet, sour, smoky, spicy heat.

Sounds good.

We're just having an Italian sausage and pasta casserole with fennel, mushroom and Mornay sauce.

You should do lil smokies wrapped in bacon or croissant rolls, both are truly divine. I'm going to do candied bacon this sunday, ever tried, smokes the house to hell but worth it!

Some things are a given. Wings. Ribs for some, chili for others. Crackers. Pickles. Chips and dip. You know, the regular stuff. The only thing I do different is sausage. Hot Italian, pepperoni, fried. LOADS of old Cheddar. It goes with all the other things. Like smoked mussels. Hey, it's Canada.
And yeah, I have a veggie platter too. It is ALWAYS the one with stuff left.

someone brought home a bunch of avocados, so i guess its guac for us, too. just green enough to be ready Sunday.

for lil smokies, we do the butter, brown sugar, and pineapple.

I haven't thought much about it yet....but i'm thinking i will eat food that isn't on my ketogenic diet. i may make a baked layered dip with some avocado (with black beans, chorizo, asadero, and colby jack cheese. maybe a little diced asado pork)

Perhaps some inspiration will come from this thread.

Speaking of drinking and driving...I am staying at home as well and will be enjoying some fine sipping whiskeys.

Blanton's
Laphroaig Scotch (smoky)
Angel's Envy
Bastille (french whiskey)

Sleeping sunday night should not be a problem lol

No matter what teams are playing we still manage to have a super bowl party.
This year it's not at my house we are going to my aunt and uncles cabin on a very frozen lake. It's awesome watching
all the ice fishing going on they use their snow machines to tow out houses onto the lake and sit for hours fishing in the freezing cold.
Sometimes they even drive their cars onto the ice which scares the heck out of us.
We all take a long walk on the lake with my husky in the lead during the day. Sit around a fire keep warm... drink and eat and wait for the game.
They just bought a updated large screen TV that we are super happy about.
The Menu normally consists of everything and anything.
This year I am bringing most of the food they will provide all the booze
I am making a huge pot of my famous chili and beans and lay out all the condiments to suit your taste ...Nacho chips oyster crackers green onions shredded cheese sour cream jalapeno's hot steamed rice.....
Home made Taquitos made from beef short ribs and a killer fresh salsa.
Sausage and pepper and onion skewers.
Spicy garlic wings served with garlic ranch.
Eggplant rollatini requested every year.
and of course a veggie platter!
I am making home made cup cakes frosted with a hazel nut icing
Home made hot chocolate that you add Malibu rum to and heaps of whip cream ...we call it a mounds bar to finish
the night off. Always a fun time no matter what team plays !!!

Tonight I will be preparing the bbq sauce and brining the ribs. Tomorrow I will be applying a dry rub (with less salt) and then popping in the oven for overnight cooking. I am thinking 175F overnight and then bumping up to 200 a couple hours before game time. Will be raining here so not much of a chance to do it on the grill

if you can get a slight sear on the pineapples....its way better. But you should do that in a skillet separately so as to not burn the brown sugar or butter.

Cool thread.

Since its a "holiday"..okay, well - festive occasion - we're using our cheat carbs this week to try this for the first time:

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Never tried it before but various versions around the web have rave reviews.

We'll serve it with french toast rounds for dipping and a mixed greens salad.
