The OP obviously has a point, why fight to not see it?

The number of people shot could be 3 times higher than it is, and more than likely you'd post the same response. What does it take? At what point do you go, "Hmm, that is a bit unusual."?

I can only hope Chicago runs out of people to shoot, or ammo, my bet is on people, tonnes of ammo are produced every week, especially to supply DHS, FBI, police, army, NSA, airforce, navy, sheriffs departments, gun shops, ATF, sorry if I've missed any alphabet unit.

That person didn't ad hominem attack you. They merely made a remark about your avatar, which I also suspect isn't you. Why would you take that as an attack?

They did contribute something intelligent. They shared their sentiment that your recent posting have been rather ish and incendiary and ignore the big picture--instead choosing to focus on minutia that gets an emotional (v. logical) response. You ask questions that are hypotheticals and draw comparisons where there aren't any. It lacks substance. That's not an attack--it's a fact and an observation.

The point of this post isn't the point at all. Yes, people died in Chicago, yes that is not a good thing. Instead, why don't we focus on the issue of poverty or illegal firearms? How about not focus on the deaths or the blacks and get to the bar? What does race matter anyway??? Or how about drug trafficking gangs in Chicago--it's probably a lot of Mexicans killing the black people as well, you know (& i AM Mexican fyi). I LIVED in Chicago for a semester. Right on Lake Shore Dr. I walked around plenty and nearly got killed a few times. That city is dangerous. It's not the politicians at fault for all of that. Seriously. For heavens' sake, let the criminals take some responsibility. Don't excuse them for their actions.

Point is, the 'point' of this thread detracts from the real problem at hand. It's sensationalizing the deaths.

I think Chicago residents, police and community "leaders" are simply accepting a high murder rate now. The local broadcast and print media is only reporting when new records, or milestones are set. The 20+ murders in the last 7 days did not make the news, but because 11 of them have occurred in the last 48 hours, that's a milestone (or record?) that's worth reporting it seems.
