I'm not sure it was a joke. A lot of people posted tweets and posts along these lines. The best one was something like "now this nobody is going to blow up now that he is on a Kanye song." lol.

Maybe the originators were joking, and some young or kids without a range of knowledge thought it was real, and hence weren't joking.

I can understand if some 10 year old doesn't know, but not a lot older.
