Apologies for disagreeing, but I feel in this situation NYPD is exactly comparable to the Westboro Baptist Church. Protesting at a funeral...disgusting. They now have mine...disgust that is. NYPD took a page straight out of the Westboro play book. The boys in blue are fools for doing this.
The NYPD's perspective is that De Blasio threw them under the bus, implied they were racists, and directly contributed to the environment that led to the killings of the officers who were being buried.

Quite a few of your posts suggest what your stance on current events are.
Anyway, I will disagree with your assertions. The out of control heads of the police unions have stirred up quite a few police officers to act out against de Blasio. He didn't throw them under the bus. He voiced concerns that any parent would who has a male teenaged child of color in America would. Maybe he should have been more discreet about it but nothing about his comment was off-base or incorrect.
Let's be real, the good ol boy network in the NYPD has been after de Blasio since he was elected. This was just a perfect time for them to show their disrespect for him. Unfortunately, they chose an incorrect time to demonstrate their anger and hate towards him. Many of these disrespectful officers are good people but feel obligated to do as the union tells them to do or "suffer the consequences".
It's sad really but the real victims are the dead citizens and dead police officers, not the cry babies in blue.

a reply to: hammanderrreally you yjink selling untaxed cigarettes is worth a death sentence or how about the women who was breastfeeding at bus stop who was assualted by a cop who thought she was breaking the law did her baby desrve to die because a cop was wrong and he got mad when he was informed he was in the wrong. the problem with police in big cities is they are taught they are the law do as i say. especially when bloomberg was mayor.
The overall anti police sentiments expressed by de Blasio, Holder and Obama are part of a larger movement to label cops as racists when they have dealings with a minority, specifically a black one. And the minority, no matter his actions, is always blameless in the eyes of the activists.
