uummm, Edward Snowden had to ESCAPE TO RUSSIA in order not be skinned alive by US government.

ummmm, Edward Snowden had to run away to Russia because he was going to be arrested (not skinned alive) for stealing and for giving away secret information to foreign entities that wish to do America harm. He caused his own situation. In Russia people are put in prison for simply badmouthing Putin. If Snowden had pulled the same crap in Russia that he pulled here, he'd have been found dead in the streets of Moscow within hours.

One thing I've learned during my discussion with these guys that are by some crazy coincidence participating yet again in the topic considering Putin and or more specific Russia. They all say the same thing in just different words. It's pointless to discuss anything with them, because in their eyes, no matter what they say, Putin and Russia in general is the greatest threat to their democracy in the world. They will try their hardest to show us how US isn't that bad and that people there have a "freedom" in doing what they want. The saddest thing is that they actually believe they live in a democratic country.
You will just get gangbanged.

Yea, Russia is somewhat still a communist country, but if their people don't mind, then why should you? I mean, in communism you at least know your rights and you know that freedom isn't real. Unfortunately...

I mean, people still don't want to recognize 9/11 as an inside job, because that would mean 'Murica is worst than Russia...And that's just not possible

Compare that to some members here near super human contortionistic mental gymnastics in justifying Russian aggression in Ukraine, Putin's thuggery over opposition and of course blatant denial over the fact that this is clearly good old fashion mob vindictiveness on Moscow's part.

Having said that, I have no illusions on how bad Washington can and has been.

That is because facts are facts, whatever words you use to explain them.

It's pointless to discuss anything with them, because in their eyes, no matter what they say, Putin and Russia in general is the greatest threat to their democracy in the world.

I'm not sure who these people you are talking about are. Putin is not the greatest threat to democracy in the world; Political Islam is, because it places the government of a people into the hands of an elite that presumes to interpret the will of God Himself. Putin has proven to be a threat to the rights and liberty of the Russian people and their neighbors.

Being able to do what one wants without being compelled to do what one does not want is pretty much the definition of "freedom," isn't it? The United States may not be perfect, but no-one has ever been sentenced to three years in prison because their brother accused the President of voter fraud. The saddest thing is that you dismiss democratic institutions as decadent.

No! Russia is not in the least bit Communist! Russia permits private capital... it is a Capitalist country with a strong, authoritarian central government. What does that make it?

www.diffen.com...

You do not seem to like the very idea of freedom. I am very sorry your life has led you to such a bleak place. Try to have a happier New Year, anyway.

ATS is an American website.

It is only natural there will be those who will always excuse any US actions.

In Russia you can also find die hard Russians who never display objectivity, the sad fact is people everywhere have an average IQ of around 100 give or take 3-4 points.

Those of us who are "blessed" are also "cursed", we see the evil and we can't do much about it, so we vent on ATS.

These Neocon/Zionist/Warmongers used to really bother me, but now I pity them. Playing a losing role in the spiritual struggle.

I know in the end extremely bad things will happen to United States, future can not be changed, which also implies US had no choice but to make the sins they make.

Sort of like a giant movie being played out, for sake of learning or perhaps.......PUNISHMENT

Well, I'm Canadian and I can see the ills that American foreign policy creates. I can also see the crap going on in Europe too and Russia is far from clean.

Fascinating. Suddenly a thread about the reaction to a Russian Show Trial is about "excusing US actions."

And by vent you mean personally attacking other members who don't agree with you.

Well that is all one needs to see to understand your mindset.

Mod note:

Once again, we see this thread devolve into personal attacks.

Sad really...
