Jackie Chan's son facing up to three years in jail for drug charges

Jaycee Chan, the son of actor Jackie Chan, has been indicted on drug charges in China, the Associated Press reports.

The singer/actor is being charged with providing a venue for others to use drugs. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison.

Chan was detained in August alongside Taiwanese actor Kai Ko after police found 100 grams of marijuana in Chan's Beijing home. Both tested positive for marijuana and admitted to using the drug.

This sad jackie is my fav cinematic martial artist and This must be hell for him and his child to go through over a plant not like he was selling heroin to kindergartners.

It will be interesting to see if Chans fame will get a lenient sentence or they will throw the book at him to make an example out of him.

They have millions why not move to California or Colorado where its no big deal?

He's lucky its only three years in jail that he is facing .. in most asian countries drug offenses carry the death penalty.

I feel bad for Jackie Chan in all of this.

It must be very hard to bring up a child in such a way as to prepare them adequately for a life in China, especially when they happen to be the son of one of the nations most famous exports. The society there is much more intolerant of failure after all. This is not in any way the same thing as a western movie stars child getting caught with a bag of pot. Here in the UK or over in the US, sure, there might be the law involved, but society in general just brushes many of these things off, and as a result, so do the celebrities involved.

In China, this sort of scandal can ruin a person, and the perception of that scandal by the government as a risk to society could have some serious consequences down the line. It is a totally different kettle of fish. I have to say, that it was deeply unwise of Jaycee Chan to take the risk, bearing in mind the probable consequences to his family. I also think that there are certain aspects of the way China as a society deals with this sort of offence which are frankly draconian, but I could say the same of some western nations, not to mention some of the Middle Eastern nations, whose laws on such matters are near to stone age in thier out working.

Still, again, my thoughts are with the Chan family at this time, and I hope that things do not become difficult for them as a result of this.

If past lenient sentencing when it comes to celebrities and their children is any gauge, you can bet your last dollar he will get a lenient sentence. I will bet he will probably get 3 years probation instead.

The laws are way too strict when it comes to marijuana. Alcohol causes more deaths and is more devastating to families than marijuana.

Imo, Dad was hardly ever there. He was too busy making films to raise him.

100 grams isn't even that much. I mean its not a small amount neither, but not worth three years. Love Jackie Chan, hope everything works out!

You usually want what is best for your children. If there was a hint of something that could ruin him in a country that does not tolerate it, time to move. I've always liked Jackie Chan. I feel for him and his son. The crime doesn't equal the time, here or there for that matter. I am not condoning smoking weed. I'm just stating a fact. I do not smoke it. There are other more dire crimes that need to be addressed.

If my son was smoking pot in China, I'd give him the speech. I would also be watching him and if he persisted on smoking it, I'd buy him a ticket to Amsterdam or Colorado. Hindsight is 20/20 and who knows if he even knew. Good luck Jackie.

And when things go drasticly wrong the parent says... "Is that my reward,...I did it all for you!!".

Anyways..this is my imagination and I feel for Jackie .. I think he is one of the good guys.
