Europe is starting to look like Israel.

news.yahoo.com...

Dijon (France) (AFP) - A driver shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is greatest") ploughed into pedestrians in eastern France Sunday, injuring 11 of them, just a day after a man yelling the same words was killed in an attack on police officers. Two of the people injured in the car attack in the city of Dijon were in a serious condition, a police source said, adding that the driver had been arrested. "The man, born in 1974, is apparently unbalanced and had been in a psychiatric hospital," a source close to the investigation told AFP, adding that "for now his motives are still unclear". The man had targeted groups of passersby at five different locations in the city on Sunday evening in a rampage that lasted around half an hour, the police source said. "Nine people were lightly injured and two others seriously but their lives do not appear to be in danger," the source added. Witnesses told police that the driver shouted "Allahu Akbar" and "that he was acting for the children of Palestine", a source close to the investigation said.

Seriously though. These primitive nitwits think they're getting rewarded in some "afterlife" for this stuff?

How about dragging your ass out of the 14th Century and ditching this absurd fairy tale that you're living in?

As if thats the reason they attack us. They see us as the enemy and the book just helps justify an attack.

This behaviour hapens in muslim countries and by letting in muslims to western society we are simply importing their habits to be inflicted on our societies.

Sweeping statement yes, and of course there are muslims who want to live in the west, work here but the trouble is they also bring baggage and want their ways to be incorporated into our society. We have Chinese, Indian Hindi and a lot of other peoples and their religions integrated into our Western society and they respect our law. In short they are no trouble at all. But islam doesn't lend itself to integration and its negative effect is to kill when it can't get its own way. It doesn't matter what excuses are given, islam doesn't integrate it takes over or kills if it can't.

Currently politicians who know perfectly well they have a fight on their hands, are giving the excuses that "oh dear he is a mentally sick man". Watch the newst though and you see car bombings, suicide bombings straight murders, rape are every day happenings within so many muslim countries and not only is it against people of other religions, whom islam detests and regards as lesser people, unless they convert of course, but its also against other brances of islam.

We need a major debate in all western countries as to whether we are prepared to accept living our lives on the edge of islamic terrorism or do we want the problem taken off our streets. Its a huge step for many muslims to come to a western country, especially if the state they come from is strict and rigid. Perhaps its too much for many and sends them off the rails, but should we pay for their problems caused by islamic teaching. Do we want to live in fear of car bombs, suicide bombers and rape? Surely we have enough criminals of our own to deal with without importing any more.

I know I am negative and we have muslims within my family, but they came here in the 1960's and never caused any problems to start with, just settled like every other immigrant from other religions. its the new fundamentalists especially from countries where saudi arabia has built fundamentalist mosques that gets into the heads of ordinary muslims.

It certainly does seem like these twits have started in Europe now... especially France!

Just hope it stays out of England.. having said that, there was the attack on 'Rigby'...

Lets just hope we don't come to expect this as an everyday occurrence like they do in 'Iraq' 'Afghanistan' and 'Pakistan'.

When have you been attacked?

Yeah the Quran has many verses that explain its ok to run over innocent people.../sarc

In the real world that's absolute bull#!!!

I noticed that none of you had any thoughts on this man being known to mental health services or the fact that he has been on a mental ward for his illness...

Maybe you'd have known that if you looked at the thread that was already in the new topics section.

I would say that anyone that kills in the name of an imaginary god from a book has mental issues....but hey, I think anyone who believes there is an imaginary god likely has mental issues, so in that respect, this argument really doesn't work. If the mental health thing is what we are going to claim for all of these attacks, then I would question the mental health of ANY religious person in general.

Either way, this mentally unstable one was a muslim so there is that connection.

I wouldn't say all extremist attacks are influenced by mental health...
Some people are just too susceptible to brainwashing...
The media does just as good a job in desensitising people to attacks on Muslims as the Clerics do & vice versa...

But this one clearly was influenced by mental health.

I wouldn't say that all are either, I was just pointing out that the fact that religion in general is not classed as a mental health issue is odd. It is about as close to a mental issue as anything I can think of, yet is accepted by almost every human being in the world as being normal....what is different between a person who is talking to him/her self and a person who is talking/praying to a god? Not much in my opinion....both have issues.

If someone can claim a mental health issue as the cause for killing/hurting numerous people, then I would guess religion will soon be used as a scapegoat in many cases of extremism.....I am sure a good lawyer could argue this point to a win, challenging religious beliefs of a large group at the same time, making a huge case that would set a precedent in the US. One day, it will happen.

You have to discern from people who have had true experiences that can't be explained...

& those going by faith alone for that to happen.

Same could be said about ghosts/UFOs/obes/astral projection...

Some have actually had tangible experiences with these subjects.

So I think it would be harsh to label them all mental health issues.

On the other hand some people go by blind faith alone on these topics & I wouldn't be surprised if a percentage was to do with mental health.

When people talk to themselves, it could be for a myriad of reasons...
You wouldn't label yourself crazy if you walked into a room and asked yourself where you left your keys...
Some may even prefer this form of expression with themselves rather than internal though process...

But again a percentage would be mental health issues.

When praying to God, again I think it depends on what someone prays for...
People use wishing wells, wishbones, some people blow out candles in the hope, even if it's a miniscule hope, that the wish will come true...

I don't think hope/faith are synonymous with mental health...
But I wouldn't say there isn't a percentage of grandiose people who partake in prayer/wish making...

I digress, hopefully that puts it into a different perspective for you.
Not to sway your opinion, but to make you go "hmmm"...

Another one today... just now in 'Nantes'... thats 3 days in a row now in France.

news.sky.com...

A man driving a van has ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Nantes, western France, injuring 11 people. According to local newspaper Ouest France, citing a police officer and witnesses on the scene, the driver of the white van shouted "Allahu akbar" ("God is greatest" in Arabic) and stabbed himself with a knife. The driver reportedly drove at a chalet serving hot wine in front of which several people were gathered, a witness said. A local official said 11 people were injured, including the driver of the vehicle.
