Building Moon, Mars and beyond bases in the near future.

There may have been something that I missed but how are we going to go about building basses and eventually cities in these places? Look at the pictures. These are some of the simpler proposals yet it would take a team of 10 dedicated workers a bit of time to construct them. How are the more advanced bases and cities going to be built? About how long would you guys expect a small, medium, and large city to be constructed?

we need to expand to other planets BUT we should NOT "interfear" with the "life" that was already there...

That's right. Time. It'd take decades, if not centuries, for humans to build a structure of any type on the surface of Mars that's suitable for oxygen-dependant inhabitants. More proof of how homosapiens are a virus, spreading from one place to another, disrupting the delicate balance of nature... Okay, that sounded retarded.

First we send two workers/engineers and two robots. The guys keep the robots in working order while they build the first building to store supplies and house people. Then they come back and send 5 guys and three robots. So now it is 5 people and 5 robots. One guy being a medic another a cook and another a general maintance with another two engineers working with the robots to build more stuff and it keeps going on and on till we have a small town and then that gets build into a bigger town, etc, etc, etc...

Sweet! I never thought about that, though, I'm talking about in the near term, (50-90 years from now) and are robots going to be developed for that duty by then?

What if the robots run out of servos or and their CPUs get busted?

Two men. Inflatable liner in an already-existing lava tube (they can run for hundreds of miles). Airlock entrance bulkhead at the mouth of the tube. Finished in one week tops. Cost in the thousands, not millions, not including cost of SNAP generator. On the Moon, resupply by Titan-Lunar Gemini. What was Alan Bean doing when Apollo 12's TV cameras failed, anyway? Then grow it bit by bit (on the Moon, this could have been going on for 36 years by now).

Guys, I think you're over complicating things here. With 10 astronaut "construction workers", they could build those structures in a couple of weeks. It's all engineering, simple plans, lightwieght materials, modular pieces. If we can get to the moon, we can build a couple of sheds and water tanks pretty easily.

We could just build a large self sustaining city in orbit than sendit to its location and it would land and connect itself to the planet, (Like with anchors)

fit some overly large rockets to the millenium dome in london,fly it up to the moon......bobs your uncle....it would be cheaper than keeping the damn thing open!!

use shielding moon's to protect bases from solar radation and use ion drives the size of the satern 5 rocket stage 1 booster to push comits into orbit around the moon or mars then 1 harvest them for water in the case of the moon or take of the iron drive and smash it into mars to supply water/air for tarraforming.
