Looks like a fossil of an ancient flatworm or something biological. Not a microchip. Bloody ATS

My first thought was that this does not look electronic. I then wondered if it could be a natural deposition of some sort, but I do not know the answer to that question. Then I realized that the area around the chip is blackened considerably. Would it have been possible for a hoaxer to actually melt out a portion of the stone using a torch, and then to insert this chip in the melted portion somehow? Perhaps this could account for the scorching, or blackening, seen on the stone.

Looks like something someone placed on the rock after crudely etching patterns into it. You can see one corner folded over a broken edge of the rock and the other side looks loose from just laying there on the rock. I date the mating of the rock and the man made object at 86400 seconds old at the time of the pic, give or take 10,000 seconds.

That's how the vetting process works.

If you were familiar with semiconductors, that wouldn't look like an IC to you.

the use of a coin as scale is indication [ to me at least ] that no credible scientific analysis has been done on this peice

before anyone flaps - yes i have used impromtu scale items myself - when i have had no scale cards on me and needed an in-situ pic of an artefact // discovery // feature

but if the item is removed - the scale cards come out later for the HQ shots

My guess is biological. The pattern tapers from one end to the other, and has a bilateral symmetry.
The coin is also placed over an area that it needed to be seen, to study the immediate surroundings of the specimen.
The stone is a conglomerate, or a loose breccia, so it would be common to find fossil remains in rocks like this.
