Fort Sam Houston on lockdown

Not much out there on this right now, looked in mew threads and recent postings so if this is a repeat, please forgive.

Heightened security measures have been implemented at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston as emergency personnel respond to reported activity involving a suspicious vehicle.

As a result, a state of full lockdown has been implemented while emergency responders complete their preliminary investigation.

The driver of the vehicle has been placed in custody while the investigation is being conducted. There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time and emergency personnel report no other individuals are suspected of being involved.

More information will be released as it becomes available.

lockdown has been lifted. they're still not releasing any further info that I've seen. only thing they're saying is that it's NOT an active shooter situation and never had any indication that it was.

I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more attention.

According to Military Officials, the man that drove through the gate at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio was a Saudi National.

Military officials say explosive materials were reportedly found in his car.

The unidentified man was taken into custody and officials are still trying to determine his motive.

Military officials are not calling this an attempted terrorist attack.

hmmm...very little out there about this....saaaaaay,whatever happened to those saudi police or military guys that dissapeared in the us when they came over to train? I think there were 2 separate occurances.....

they are not 'characterising this as a terrorist attack' because the govt didnt setit up......doh

They were Afghan and I believe they were caught trying to cross the border in Niagra Falls.

Almost everything I see posted out there is just the same blurb Seek_Truth found.

This little bit stuck out to me:

No one also could explain how the vehicle got on post or what about it caused someone to believe it was suspicious, but more than 91,000 cars come and go on three San Antonio military installations every day.

If no one knew who or what cauaed suspicion, then I am even more highly suspicious of this whole thing.

the first article says it 'ran the gate' ...now 'someone reported a suspicious vehicle'....and they dont know how it got there.......hmmmmmm

Probably unrelated, but I found this interesting:

Thirty members of a specialized infectious disease team have completed a round of training at Fort Sam Houston. The military team, organized by the Department of Defense to assist in domestic Ebola cases, trained in the specifics of using hazmat-style suits, which will protect them from exposure to the virus.

Team members were scheduled to return to regular duty at their home bases after the training and remain ready to respond within 72 hours to any future Ebola cases. The team, which could be split up according to need, will be assigned to assist civilian medical personnel in hospitals only on U.S. soil.

Why would the U.S. need a military team "in hospitals only on U.D. soil?"

It's actually not that uncommon. A lot of medical personnel get sent to civilian hospitals to assist/train more. For instance, a hospital in southeast DC is far more likely to see gunshot wounds and stabbings than Bethesda naval hospital is.

Same idea with this type of thing. They can be used to "train the trainer" and unlike civilians, they can't really say no when they're told to go somewhere

The latest twist:

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A college student has been detained after driving onto Fort Sam Houston over the weekend, causing a nearly four-hour lockdown.

...

502nd Air Base Wing spokesman Alex Delgado said the male student is not in the service and the vehicle did not contain any explosives or weapons.

...

The student is in military custody. No charges have been filed against the student, whose name, age and school have not been released.

wow .....went from a saudi national, running the gate with possible explosives in vehicle to a college student who drove onto the base without proper credentials?! and no explosives.....wow,that's some change in story......how on esrth did it go from one to the other?? weird

And this is the final chapter?

Like most things the media reports on, the early stages are chaotic and all over the place. People are picking up rumors and running with them. I don't think that's indicative of much more than the rush to be "first" in a 24 hour media cycle. They'd rather be first and wrong than last and right.
