Perhaps I am not understanding something.

Ah, yes, I did misunderstand. The 'declassified files' are nothing but a 'morning report' that notes that no emergency vehicles were sent out and possibly some files pertaining to these flyers being 'transfered' to the newly formed Air Force.

the files were destroyed.

Any documentation pertaining to what happend to the "debris" afterwords is now in the hands of the NSA and are not eligiable for FOIA requests.

There was no "smoking gun" in the desclassified Roswell files...as a matter of fact there was nothing indicating that anything at all even happened early July, '47.

Well, maybe thats because an aliens spaceship didn't crash and alien bodies weren't recovered.

Well it's definitely a fact that something crashed in early July '47 and their was a large military presence there to clean it up because of eye witness reports and testimonies, sworn affidavits, and what was reported in the news papers at the time. As far as i remember, all that is excluded in the declassified Roswell files which doesnt make sense. I'm with Gazrok and robertfenix here, the files are either "missing" or have been destroyed.

Stan Friedman was one of the researchers making the requests.

The OFFICIAL answer from FOIA was "MISSING". In some other requests, they've simply stated "DOES NOT EXIST". However, there is a number cataloguing system for such documents and memoes, etc. A large number came up as "missing".

The transfer is in regards to personnel. Since the Air Force was now in existence, and Roswell was formerly an Army Air Field, it does stand to reason that personnel were moved around. However, this still doesn't change the whole bizzare circumstance behind the creation of the Air Force and CIA in less than a month...

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing, still kind of leaves it wide open doesn't it? I am sick to death of seeing those crappy stupid butt weather balloon pictures, I am even more sick of this Roswell Coverup.
I wish the government would just fess up and admit that aliens did crash in Roswell in 1947.

Releasing pages of blacked out docuements to the public, or offering excuses like oh a weather balloon, project mogul (nevermind this didn't start until 1953), blah blah blah, what a crock of. They should have just stuck with their orginal report of a crashed saucer. Sheesh!

Meh, poor Jesse Marcel had to face ridicule for being right! The higher authorities made them change the crash report. Witnesses were highly classified people.

they will keep getting new ideas for covering up the most amazing thing that ever took place. Swamp gas,Balloon, project mogul.
