Because it's not true democracy.

Every four years people vote and the system gets worse. That's just one example.

They serve their own interests and oppress us. It's not a democracy.

so we opt in to the current corrupt political system and go along voting in it and say to the political leaders that we don't care how corrupt you are we will vote for you anyways because that's the way it has to be? we should do that??

Did I say that? No. Nice attempt at a strawman though.

If you'd like my opinion on what should be done, all you would have to do is ask because it's not a this or that kind of thing. This is what I would do.

1. Many districts ended up having parties running against themselves, no opposition to the incumbent or the two parties to chose from. Don't like it? Run for office and become a participant in your democracy or, alternatively, support a candidate from a third party so they can compete.

2. Voting does not have to equate for voting for this person or that if there are alternate options. Also see #1.

Democracy requires participation.

I apologize I did not mean for my reply to be combative. But I am just trying to say the solution is not as easily summed up as voting this way or that, In my state Washington state we have the top two thing going. where only the top two candidates get to be put on the ballot and you can't vote for others.

That's more or less a feel good way of not voting. I'd have the same effect if I went to a voting booth and filled a ballet with no votes cast for anyone (or just didn't vote at all).

I voted straight green party, mostly because I wasn't really able to see much of a difference between most of the candidates, they were so same-y

IMHO, we need a new box on our ballots. "None of the Above" would tell both parties that we disapprove of both candidates. Right now, most people I know vote for the lesser of the two evils, "None of the Above" would allow a candidate to be elected, and not be able to claim a mandate to push there agenda.

People are tired of being told to pick one of these 2 guys every time , and they are NOT who we would want to represent us...You guys think you are making yourself heard when you just go pick your typical R or D straight ballot every time...your part of the problem too....

Its like going to buy a new car, you need a car as your old one is failing and cant be depended on any longer, so you want a Toyota...But ALL car lots in the state only have a Chevy Cruize and a Huyndai....do you just take the freakin Cruize and move on?? You really wanted and need a Toyota but it would seem its not an option...enjoy your new car that you will hate for the next few years...but hey at least its new...
