White orb seen on MARS pics

You have got a keen eye sir, great job. Am always sketchy when it comes to ytvid but seeing as the contect was relevant, wouldn't be the first time a yt-ber manipulated video to up their view count.

Still doesn't explain the first orb, and has anyone see any connection to the white light flash from Miniscuzz post?

I don't see how this could possibly be debunked or debated. It's dark and the light is a very bright white...pointing directly up from the ground about a half a mile to perhaps a mile away from the rover. The picture is a raw JPL image. Link provided below.

Another oddity to check out is right in the foreground of the picture. It looks like either tracks of some sort (not rover) or water was there in the recent past and evaporated.

Looks to me like the Arizona or New Mexico desert. Can't wait to read a replies about Mars anomalies that won't have the word "rock" in them lol.

Yep looks to me like a 'dead pixel' that can move, they can move as sometimes the censor heats/cools in an non uniform fashion, thus, the 'dead pixel' can appear to be moving! OK SHUT ER DOWNNNN..

Ozzy Osbourne has a song about Aleister Crowley and toured with Mick Mars back in '87... and specifically mentions going off the rails in another of his songs.

It looks like it's moving around on its own to me. Saying otherwise seems like a debunking stretch to say the least.

When you line the photographs up and play them like a film the light appears to move in tandem with the rover and holding a relatively even position on the lens of the camera. I would say it's an anomaly of light refraction.

A hot pixel wouldn't show up in both cameras, so it's not that.

I'm open to it being a light or orb of some sort, but I think it could be ghosting of the sun on the lenses. The stereo separation of the camera pair would account for the difference in the horizontal positioning between each camera at the same time stamp. The angle of the sun and the angle of the rover cameras to the sun could account for the vertical movement over time.

I've seen a few really compelling objects in the mars images that could be signs of artificial objects or fossils. However, there has also been an increasing number of "found anomalies" in the past couple months that are clearly imaginative mis-identifications of rocks and ordinary geological structures that sort of look like something else. I think this is an intentional effort to add a lot of noise to signal, making it harder to compel serious study of real anomalies.

As such, we need to be extremely careful when analyzing alleged anomalies.

In this case, maybe someone can convert these images to stereo and see if the positions between the left right pair are more consistent with a foreground object or a sun ghost on the lens elements. I'm guessing sun ghosting personally.

How come these "orbs" or whatever are always so small and far away as to be indistinguishable from a "white blob" and thus be anything. Surely a real orb would at some point in history be photographed close enough to be 100, 200 etc pixels wide........unless it really is an artifact.....>DUH!

The file names seem to suggest that the camera pair are capturing images simultaneously. It looks like they might not always be perfectly aligned for stereo vision, but just eyeballing it, it seems like more often than not, they are. It really seems to me that someone with the proper software and hardware could convert those to stereo and see if the orbs track properly 3 dimensionally to be an actual object.

It does look to me as if the sun is in the direction the cameras are facing and slightly above the frame. This would definitely support the possibility that these are just lens ghosts from the sun. If so, I'd think that there have to be other pictures from the same cameras with similar orientation to the sun. That would help a lot in trying to evaluate the hypothesis that these are lens artifacts.

Maybe some day we'll get a rover and Earth-Mars communication network capable of providing 1080P stereoscopic video, even if at less than 30 frames per second. That would make it much easier to determine if something is really unusual, or just a trick of light and shadow. (At least the stereo stills let us eliminate the often used "cosmic ray/ corrupt pixel" explanation).
