My favorite X-Man gets a stand alone Movie.

The Rogue character has not come into her own yet, but getting that to happen would involve the actress who plays her, Anna Paquin, getting used to playing a character who could body slam the Hulk, punch a mountain into a coma, and generally outbadass most other characters in the Marvel Universe, while remaining a stone cold fox.

Saying that, I do not think that Anna Paquin would have any difficulty getting into that element of the role.

My thought as well. He was really good in Wolverine.

I get it though. Tatum on the screen and my girls swoon. One's 19, the other 20. If that was what they wanted I would have gone with one of the Supernatural guys. They swoon to them too.

Well that is just a matter of whether the director can get what he is after out of the actor or in this case actress concerned, and having the right vision for the character in that stage of her development. Personally, I think that Anna Paquin is capable of pulling off a harder, and stronger, and more confident Rogue, similar in aspect to the 90s cartoon version, but only if she is instructed to show that side to the character by the directors.

The other thing will be making sure the character is written properly. As you know from watching the X-Men films that have come out thus far, the character has been used as a plot device, but has not really been explored, and neither have the outer reaches of her talents. She ran away from home before she even understood a fraction of her potential, and then was kidnapped by Magneto, and has largely occupied the position of "Occasionally useful damsel in distress" in the films since then.

Frankly, if the writing staff paid the correct level of respect to the characters evolution in terms of both her abilities, her control of them, and indeed the development of her confidence in herself during the preceeding movies, then we would not even question the subject!

However, if they somehow manage to write a script properly, and present Rogue in her proper role as a face wrecking she-badass with a sense of mischief and confidence, then I see no reason why Paquin could not act the living crap out of that. But unless the writing and directing offer her the opportunity to let her badass loose on the movie going public, we will never know for sure. I want to see it happen though, I really do.

It's all about continuity.

Kitsch is a better actor and more versatile than Tatum is. Tatum is a wooden actor. Looks and acts the same whether it is an action(gets displaced by the Rock in GI Joe 2, CT should never act in another action film after "White House Down"), comedy(CT was exposed as not having a funny bone in his entire body in 22 Jump Street 1& 2, Jonah Hill saved that movie) or drama(he was in WAY over his head in "Side Effects").

Kitsch is a great idea for Gambit. The makers of Call of Duty: Advance Warfare can't be wrong in tabbing him to promote their video game. Watching him in a 30 second action teaser makes one want to purchase the game and I'm not a gamer. Kitsch was solid in "Lone Survivor", he should've gotten the lead role instead of Marky-Mark Walhburg, who is just as bad of an actor as Tatum. He is showing more versatility in his acting chops in "The Grand Seduction", which he worked for scale in his home country in Canada.

I hope the producers of the Gambit movie reconsider their choice of Gambit and hire Kitsch to play the Cajun X-man.

Channing Tatum is a lump, and would be crap in the role, for a certainty, but all that you said about the versatility of Kitsch is about as relavant as cottage cheese is to particle physics. He simply cannot play the role, something which was proven admirably by his dismal attempt to play everyones favourite son of the bayou.

He is simply incapable of sounding like, acting like, or indeed standing in as body double for, Gambit. Even if the rest of Wolverine: Origin, had not have been the raging travesty that it was, his performance would still stand out as one of the worst I have ever seen. I honestly cannot believe that anyone would recommend him to reprise the roll, although I agree that just about anything would be better than Tatum.

Okay, we both can agree on Channing Tatum not portraying gambit.

I just want to add a final point on my choice of Tyler Kitsch being Gambit. In "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", the final scene when Gambit leaves the battle area as Wolverine cradles Silver Fox as she lays dying, the writer/director implied that Kitsch could return to the role in a later movie like "X-Men: Days of Future Past" or other X-Men sequels.

Who do you think should play the role of Gambit?

Jared Leto from 30 Seconds To Mars, the band. He's also an actor, has the right accent by default, and is down with comic books. He's just one of the people who has been suggested by fans as being ideal for the role, and frankly, we know better than the industry guys about these sorts of things.

A good choice. Leto was great in the "Dallas Buyers Club", he earned that Oscar. Didn't Leto decline a comic-book role a few years ago?

I don't know, but he was named as a possible Doctor Strange, although that film is alleged to have the Prometheus writers involved, so frankly if he turned that down I would not be shocked. That movie was a cluster copulation from the get go!

If I had to choose between Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch to play Gambit, I would ultimately choose Kitsch. And here is why.

1. He has already been established in the role.

2. He had some very solid performances in "Savages", "The Bang Bang Club" and some not-that-bad performances in "John Carter" and "Lone Survivor". Whereas I have never seen a Channing Tatum film that I liked.

Now that said, I don't really think either of them are right for the role. But if I were to pick one over the other, that's how I would choose.

Yes, I agree. As awesome as the character is, I do not think Doc Strange has the appeal of more popular comic book heros, like Captain America, Spider-Man, or The Hulk. The die hard Strange fans would be all over it like a swarm of flesh eating insects on a cadaver, but everyone else would largely ignore it I think.

That is a very tough call. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with someone like Matt Bomer or Adrian Grenier. If nothing else, they at least look somewhat like the character and are not bad actors. Although Grenier probably wouldn't be able to do a convincing accent.

Matt Bomer has the look part down. Grenier??? Whatever happened to him? Weren't they going to do a "Entourage" movie with him?

One actor I can think of that would make a great Gambit. Jared Patalecki from "Supernatural" That series is winding down to an end for him to commit to the role
