Wisconsin High School Runner Carries Competitor to the Finish Line

There is enough of the negative reports and issues it's just good to see people being considerate of others.
I know the doom porn and fear mongering is all too common so here's a little change up for ya.

“I know you're not supposed to touch another runner,” Monfils told the station. “At that point, before I even thought about I'm going to get disqualified if I touch her, I was just like, the first thing was I need to help her, because she needs to finish."

Girl competing in a 5k for the opposite high school helps a girl who has fallen and otherwise wouldn't finish, even though she gets DQ'd for it.

These stories really should get more attention! The human spirit is most exemplefied in compassion, generosity, cooperation and love!

Competetion is healthy of course, but as this young girl demonstated, helping one in need is a far greater reward than winning!

I agree, if people would only realize what we could accomplish if we all woke up one day and decided to work together...there is nothing we couldn't do.

Absolute truth right there, we literally have the power of creation! It begins with our thoughts, aligning ourselves with the higher intelligence known as our intuition, the we shall work in harmony to heal this planet! It may not be televised, but millions upon millions are doing this right now!

Yes, she was.
That is one way to look at it I guess.
I prefer to see that she helped someone that wasn't even her own team mate, whose teammates were also passing her by without so much as a glance.
And if you read the article it seems she has gained a connection with someone from her kindness and consideration.
People can display such acts of beauty and selflessness but all things have multiple sides and on the other end of that spectrum people can be vile and evil beyond all measure.
The differences we all have should be viewed as gifts not as threats and reasons to divide us.
We let such petty things such as politics, race, religion, culture, status, and so much more keep us as the HUMAN race from living our lives as we could....

I think the message of teamwork is a good one, but an even better message is one of putting others first. Altruism in the sense of sacrificing something for yourself to help someone else who needs that help. I have noticed that there are often times in a person's day to day life where they can be of assistance to someone else, but these opportunities go unnoticed or the person does not take the initiative. I think our society, and maybe even capitalism in general, breeds this "me" mentality...what can you do for me, instead of what can I do for you? One need not sacrifice anything themselves to help someone else, but I think that such instances deserve even higher praise.
