I am Pro-2nd Amendment. The actual intent and meaning of the 2nd.

What I am saying is that Anti-2nd Amendment people are free to defend themselves how ever they want.
I am free to exercise the Right of the 2nd, and defend myself how I see fit.

Those that buy into the stupid idea that using Wasp Spray, keys or hiding are the ones that really shouldn't have firearms. They and everyone else are better off not having firearms.

It's an article about people not being completely defenseless when caught without one.

Apparently the gunners find it baffling that if caught without a gun or are unable to get to a gun..there are other ways to escape with your life or defend yourself.

They think once you the option of gun is taken out of the equation...you are completely F'd.

Sad and pathetic...the only think in this world that you think..keeping you safe is a weapon.

They think that anything spoken about situations where a gun may not be needed or is unreachable..is a speech about about disarmament.

They create their own little scenarios about what the article truly about..

Oh, so it states that in the article....that these can be used for when a firearm is not readily available??

Well at no point in the article does it state...you do not need guns. That is all your in little head.

Because you find it hard to believe there are stories out there of people surviving without a gun. Not all people are completely useless without a gun.

I think an article that that consists of "buy a gun" would not be useful to gun owners or those that choose not to own guns....apart from being a very brief article.

The intent is to give people options when either they do not own a gun or that gun is inaccessible.

People are already aware that guns fire bullets and that those bullets can kill an intruder.

They might not be aware that absent a gun, the alarm button on your car keys is a reasonable way to alert neighbors that something is wrong. At least a neighbor might come knocking to tell you to shut off the alarm.

Surely that plain and rational premise makes sense to anyone not fevered in the "They want my guns" mindset.

When the military teaches our soldiers hand-to-hand combat....is that the same as our military saying "guns don't work in combat"?

Not sure how to debate with broken thinking.

Guns do a lot more harm than good any way you look at it. You'e a lot more likely to get your kids killed by having guns around than to protect them from any danger, real or imagined.

I've noticed that a lot of the most fervent gun worshippers are people that live around other gun people and encounter them causing havoc. The best defense is to live in a good neighborhood instead of wasting your money on assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammo.

you need to get your facts straight! Your statement is based on your ideology and opinion not the stats. see below

My "home protection" has a name. Its called Remington model 1100 w/ 3in mag chamber and extended magazine. It is loaded with 00 buck in the chamber and followed by slugs thereafter.

I will wait until the door is breached before the first shot and, just incase they have friends, I am not adverse to putting the slugs through the wall. I live in a wood frame house, so there is not much in the way.

I don't call this "stand your ground", I call it "you just choose the wrong house".

For those who see guns as "dangerous with kids around"; I would predict more kids are harmed from "hidden guns" than from those who know what the dangers are to begin with.

Oh, I stated that??? That the article was about that??

Better go back and re-read what I have responded with.

So, it stated that exact intent??? Or are you offering that from your own interpretation?

Well that is a relief. Didn't know if those that watch/read NBC news were aware of that.

Very well.

Oh yeah, because those that value the 2nd always state that there is absolutely no other way other then to use a firearm.

Hand to hand combat is a last ditch effort.....which is used to get to a working firearm.

LOL at NBC.

We would like to think our world is a better place to live than it was decades ago. In some ways, it is. But, in other ways, it is much more dangerous and sinister.

I really think there are more sociopaths and psychopaths. More and more people are losing their moral compass and simply don't care. Either you find people who are no longer concerned about a spiritual punishment in some kind of afterlife of judgement, or just the opposite...ideologically driven crazies.

I believe there should be more people with a CC license. I think it has become necessary to increase guns in the hands of law-abiding people, rather than decrease them.

I think it is immoral for a man...or woman....not to be prepared to stand in defense of their family when some crazy machete-wielding gang approaches.

Our country is full of diversity. Good thing, right? In some ways, it is, but in other ways, it is not. We let any and everybody enter. We have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of press. That's all good. I hope it stays that way. I once read that every single country but one in the world has at least one representative here in America. That's how big a melting pot we are.

But, because we are not an homogenous society, there are dangers that divide and try to conquer. In that kind of society, you absolutely MUST have the right to keep and bear arms. If we are going to insist (and we should) on all the rights afforded to us in our Bill of Rights, then #2 must be one of the most important ones to keep and maintain.

It did not need to explain that guns fire bullets capable of killing people?

Nor did it explain the earth is round...but the absence of them saying the earth is round is not the same as them saying...in quotes..."The earth is flat"

Here is the OP Headline...
The Today Show’ Says You Don’t Need a Gun to Defend Your Home.

That headline is clearly factually false and was fabricated precisely to provoke folks just like yourself to be irrational...if your brain is incapable of discerning that factual reality then there is nothing I can say to help you.

The article did not state "Things to do when a firearm is not available"...Nor did it directly state "Since we hate guns, do this instead".

Try being honest for once. It might help your long game.

1st of all, yes NBC was implying that we do not need guns for protection, They give us a few ideas of what we could use for protection.

reading down through the comments this morning I discovered that there will always be a war on this issue and it will continue until the day the government thinks they have enough backing to take away guns.

Every time there is a mass shooting its some deranged idiot that afterward everyone agrees wasn't right to begin with and at some point all the signals were ignored.

The options that NBC gave most likely would surely get me killed in a home invasion. Evil will always find a way to kill gun or not. Some people would love for everybody to believe guns somehow cause a person to become murderous, so lets ban them. Well-educated people on facts know better, people will find other means to commit these crimes.

Bottom-line, laws and bans only affect people who follow the laws; they do not stop people intent on breaking the law.
There is no real reason to take guns away from the law abiding citizens.

Now we should ban all criminals from owning a gun, after all a can of bug spray should work just fine for them... Wait! We did that. Don't they know that it is illegal from them to have a gun???

Nor did it state "You Don’t Need a Gun to Defend Your Home" like the headline claims it did...

Ironic that you speak of honesty while continuing to willfully ignore that blatant lie.

Gee, seems that you left out my responses that it didn't have anything within the article stating that a gun is bad.

I didn't make the headline, nor the title to the thread.

Now, about that broken logic you mentioned, shall we consider yours cleared up in regards to my posts?

I agree. I use claymores and bouncing bettie's around the parameter for home defense. I wouldn't want to take a chance of being demonized for having a gun and protecting my family.
