Supreme court in Canada included same-sex into definition of marriage. This decision must be approved by the majority of House of Commons. If this happens Canada will join the tolerant countries Belgium and the Netherlands in their recognition of the same sex rights.

However, the court added that religious officials cannot be forced to perform unions against their beliefs, and the legislation to allow gay marriage must still pass with a majority of the House of Commons.
Canada would join Belgium and the Netherlands in allowing gay marriage if the government rules that it is legal nationwide.
The court's decision brings to the final stages a long, bitter fight over whether gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry in Canada. Public opinion is evenly divided on the matter, and advocates for both sides are preparing for the final phase of the battle.
In the United States, gay marriage is opposed by a majority of Americans, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll taken in November, shortly after constitutional amendments in 11 states to ban same-sex marriage were approved.
Judges in six Canadian provinces and one territory have already overturned the traditional definition, allowing thousands of same-sex weddings.

Decision of Canadian Supreme court shows that Canadian society has modern view about relationships. That is very interesting - this is happening just month after U.S. has chosen their president.

They should have a tolerent view on something as natural as hetrosexuality regardless of what Christian backed conservatives rant.

I for one applaud Canada on this, if only the rest of the world got rid of its silly beliefs.

even notice that if you get a group of many people on any belief to gang up on a certain subject in society. you can make it ok and make into a law.remember mob rules and this is the begining of new bread of humans evolving among us.im not knocking these peoples plea but were all gonna watch the human race change it values.good or bad they will have to explain to us. who may not ever understand.what are there intentions? how will we be able to sustain new life?.oh wait test tube babies oh joy.on another note since these people got there rights in society what about women kind.they should of got equal rights first.we sort of left the female race out in the cold.i as a man am outraged that all others have a platfrom of rights but yet women are still in the dark with no equal labour wages. burn to the stake in some countries for looking at another man and placed in cardboard boxes as unwanted babies like in china.to me we have missed the boat and left the female race to fight with these new people that will take there emotions and use them as if females never exsited.im not gonna bite my words on this one.woman race go out tommorrow and voice your rights for your the ones who need a voice and laws that will sustain your kind.

I think all people should have equal rights, theres more ways to have biological children apart from normal M/F reproduction and test tube.
