Einstein and Israel

I just learned that Einstein was offered the presidency of Israel in 1952, after the first president died but he declined saying he wasn't a politician. Of course Einstein died 3 years later anyway, but still...
One can only imagine how history may have been different if a respected genius and pacifist of Einstein's stature had chosen to accept and become president of Israel.
I never knew this and thought it was intresting and decided to share.

Israel may have wanted him as president merely to serve as a public relations man. I don't think the president of Israel has any real power.

It's pretty easy to answer.

1952 : Einstein is new Israel President.
1953 : Israel do her first A-bomb test.
1954 or 1955 the whole middle-east is nuked.
