Malaysian Muslim receives death threats for dog-petting event.. A little something for our dog lover

Kuala Lumpur: -- A man who organised a dog-petting event for Muslims in Malaysia has received death threats from religious fundamentalists who consider dogs to be untouchable.

The threats have been continuous for Syed Azmi Alhabshi, a Muslim himself, who hosted the "I want to touch a dog" event in Kuala Lumpur last week that drew nearly 1,000 people, according to his lawyer Shahredzen Johan.

"He has been getting severe death threats," he said

His intention was merely to help people "overcome a fear of dogs, how to help them when they are in trouble and the limitations in the Islamic context," Syed Azmi said. "The programme is an educational process to respect Allah’s creatures that are increasingly held in contempt and abused by our society."

The article goes on to say 60 per cent of the 29 million are Malaysian Muslim. Malaysia is generally viewed as not a radical society, but the article says fundamentalism is gaining afoot hold.

Beating your wife, treating her like a possession is ok, honor killings [ murder ] is fine, beheading ?, have at it. But you better damn well keep your hands off that dog!!

Seriously though, how can people even follow this religion? Most dogs have unconditional love more than humans. They can't pet a dog? Considering...

=They treat their women like slaves

=They kill their own children on the belief they're "honor killings"

= They want to kill and torture anyone who doesn't conform to their crazy beliefs

=They push their followers to strap on bombs and kill themselves

=They behead people

= They condemn and put bounties on people's heads for writing negative books about their religion and drawing sensational cartoons of Allah.

Just a few facts, but of course we can go on and on how outrageous this religion really is.

This definitely isn't a religion of peace, and I'm sure satin is using it to spread his dirty deeds and evil bidding around the world. The anti=Christ is alive and well walking the earth.

To be a Muslim and ignore some of these basic facts is really fooling yourself into thinking this religion is from a loving and peaceful God.

I was going to make a really bad comment using insults from the Quran, but as much as I'd like to throw their own words back at them, I will refrain.

IMO, Islam is a totally deranged belief system. Somehow the dry climate and sandy soil has damaged their brains. Is the ozone layer thinner over the middle east or what? Maybe their diet is to blame?

Hate dogs? Well I hear they just LOVE their livestock. Maybe the problem started when some lonely caravan drivers, way back when, got touchy feely with the camels and donkeys because the dogs wouldn't consent willingly.

Dog lovers that are mentioned in the title and might read should be supporting the efforts at least in their comments of this Muslim, instead of bashing Islam for calling itself a religion of peace and bringing up debatable off topic about beheading and wife beatings.

Why not support what this guy is doing, because its a Muslim you fail to see he is doing what any dog lover would do in a society that lacks education about our K9 friends.

that is really weird to the point of I'm not even sure I believe it. There is nothing forbidden about touching dogs. Yes, they are considered unclean, and are, according to Islamic law supposed to be kept outside - although many don't follow that rule, they just make sure the prayer room in the house is off limits to their dog. But there is nothing forbidden about owning or petting a dog. Actually having a guard dog was a good thing in Islamic tradition.

The only thing that you are supposed to follow is that after you pet a dog you should wash and do ablutions. Honestly, this isn't a bad practice either, especially in the days prior to antibiotics and flea medicines for dogs.

Fundamentalists are crazy. People being upset and not having a heart to see that symbiotic kindness between a dog and a human would be a good thing.

Many places in the civalized west eat dogs for dinner and i am not talking hot dogs here but who knows what meat they contain given that corporations have been selling donkey meat as beef and no one got sent to jail over that one.

Just calling out gay pride in the west can get you death threats or asking for the borders to be closed will provoke the same type of responce from the left so i guess we will just have to live with it.

Now the police using dogs to bite people in the streets and screws in gitmo setting dogs on inmates is something that needs to be investigated but it won't be.

Every religion is a "religion of peace" as long as you show blind allegiance to it. Once you start asking questions and stop taking ancient texts as literal truth, they threaten to kill you as a result. If only religion didn't exist.... This world would be a much better place, although thank goodness for moderates like this guy. Fundamentalism is terrible and should be outlawed. We need more people to start the revolution against fundamentalism so these idiots can coexist with the rest of the world instead of trying to kill anybody that disagrees with their guess about god.

I was on a bus once when a mula got on with his oversized beard and pajamas for for clothes ..not to mention the typical hat .. all was good until a lady with a puddle got on ..and this guy just freaked out and moved away saying something about how she should keep the dog away from him ..
I asked him why .. and he said muslims are not allowed to touch dogs ..
I asked why again .. and he said it's the islam religion..
I asked him again .. what was wrong with that dog that he needed to freak out like he did .. he looked at me like he wanted to say something to me ..
I told him that dog was cleaner than him .. and that he should be ashamed of his ignorance .. he got off the bus while i gave him a 'i'm gonna rip your beard off and shove it down your throat' look ..lol

Hummm Funny in a sick way that as long as they keep their beliefs in the desert far far away from western thought and progress there is peace and harmony. Yet when the two cultures mix there seems to be always some radical of the faith to find something to piss them off..
