Aye, if it ever gets here we could be screwed in a heartbeat.

Lol, we could only hope... Would make things up here sooo much nicer.. Not to mention all the idiots who flock up here for the PFD or the only thing they hear is "They pay you to live there!?!" would be out in a hurry...LOL

I was not saying all of this to fear monger or the like

Well,... ya did.

just kidding, you are absolutely correct and it is a bit freaky. I often times say "well shoot, at least we're in AK and not some major city", but that's just to comfort my feeble mind and those around me.

Personally I would be much more comfortable with massive EQ over any viral outbreak.

If this turns into some weaponized Ebola walking dead scenario at least we have someone like you who is well versed in the arts of zombie hunting

Joking again, thanks for the posts Grimm.

Hmm. I am in no way an expert on disease and prevention...so this may sound incredibly stupid and naive to anyone who is but, I was thinking, would the extreme cold during Alaskan winters do anything to the virus? Or does environmental temperature have absolutely no affect on the spread and/or incubation period of diseases?

Doctors are saying the cold helps the virus to thrive outside of the body and may make it go airborne.

Scientist claim the cold this year will HELP Ebola

Oh good

That means we will be among the first populations to experience the airborne version! Even better, nightmare scenario creeping around the corner, wonderful.

(lots of sarcasm there)

Woohoo! A whopping standard paycheck once a year that, if you're like me, gets garnished anyway. Trust me folks the grand PFD is not a worthwhile reason to come to this frigid Ebola ridden land.

(I know it's not here, maybe I'm using humor to quell away the very real fear.)

Haha, that's what I said, as soon as it hit Anchorage, but without confirmation you can't just completely shut in. My husband was laughing at me the other day when I told him which gas pump I sterilized. Haha, I feel like a crazy person, but know that I would be crazier for ignoring the reality of the issue.

Like I said in a message earlier, I don't think your crazy for sterilizing the gas pump. I'm kicking myself for not doing the same thing already. I've definitely upped my hand washing and hygienic practices now though.

I'm in Australia following a 9 news feed on a nurse in Brisbane who recently returned from West Africa & apparently has a fever & getting test results for Ebola back tomorrow morning.Considering we have tool of a Prime Minister its gonna be interesting here if its a positive result

That message actually just came back as a quote of the original message.

I honestly can't think of anything else to do. We will just have to wait it out. It's only a matter of time before the cat is out of the bag if it does get serious. If it does, I agree with Grimmley, we are kind of screwed. I would love to lean toward burdmann's assessment though, everyone who doesn't belong here can just go away!!

Hey guys, don't forget to take your own pens to the polls next week!!

Sorry about that, I sent the first one on accident, but sent my intended message right after, I think it should be there?

No problem! Try again though, it never came through.
I've been having technical issues with ATS lately. I still only have random access to any images.

Aye, it seems anymore when someone attempts to spread awareness it's the default - "OMG your fear mongering!! - or doom porn" etc etc.

An inch of awareness can go miles, and if your not even aware of the situation, well then your pretty screwed from the get go lol. At least, with even basic awareness, when something is a miss it will make you take notice easier.

Be safe
