NEWS: 3 U.S. Army Infantrymen Charged With Armed Robbery, page 1

Three U.S. Army infantryman, who belong to the 1st Batallion, 17th Infantry Division, Ft. Wainwright, have been charged with armed robbery and theft. The three soldiers held up a convienence store in Fairbanks, Alaska. Ski masks, radios, and a getaway car were all utilized, indicating these three soldiers put thought into their actions prior to committing the crime. The total take was undisclosed, but based on the charges it is more than $50.00 (US). Luckily, the store's clerk was not injured.

...Reyes allegedly acted as the gunman, McGee was the lookout and Scott acted as the getaway driver in the robbery of the Holiday convenience store early Tuesday. Reyes and McGee were in contact via two-way radio, according to court records.

The holdup happened at about 2:30 a.m. while Clark was working alone. The amount of money taken was not disclosed, but court records indicate the amount was more than $50.

Reyes, who wore dark clothing, dark gloves and a dark ski mask, walked into the store carrying a semiautomatic handgun and a two-way radio, records said. Court records say Reyes demanded money and grabbed some after Clark opened the till.

I find it very unusual that three different soldiers would all work with each other in the planning, and execution, of this serious crime. For three soldiers to commit a crime as this is surely an indicator of a problem - any thought as to what caused these soldiers to commit armed robbery?
