Just another story about the cops raiding the wrong house and then shooting the family dog. They realize they're at the wrong house and then shoot the poor dog. Of course the police refuse to take responsibility.

Cops are soo trigger happy and afraid!

This is sad. When will this madness end? When will citizens say enough is enough and really do something about this?

They broke down the door on the wrong house here in the UP a few times a few years ago. The cops were doing those drug stings. They really should go check out the places beforehand, going to the wrong house with a swat team is kind of messed up. It seems this usually happens when some out of area drug enforcement agency comes here trying to clean things up. They take charge and mess things up.

I'd be pissed if they broke down my door and came in with guns. Get the address right if you do things like that. Make sure your leads are trustworthy. Send a local cop there a day before asking some questions about a wild dog or something that is bothering the neighbors to see if it is the right house.

This should have never happened.

I can think of one place where that would be really dangerous (for the police).

Given the number of times the police go to the wrong address, I am starting to believe in an IQ issue.

Does an address of 4 or 5 numbers instead of 2 or 3 confuse them?

These cops are idiots. The one that shot the dog should never be allowed to touch a gun again because he is a dangerous nutjob. Their job is to protect and serve, not maim and destroy personal property.

Remember those stupid 12-sammich eatin, IQ of a rock, fat idiotic ship-for-brains cops in that movie Idiocracy......

Yeah - well, that's art imitating life, especially down in Michigan.

The most dangerous thing in America is a cop - proof right there, again.

I know this isn't the point but for accuracy purposes it appears the dog survived.

Clohe survived the shooting, but has had to endure three surgeries, and lost part of her tongue and a canine tooth.

Of course the family did encounter a decent officer on the way to the vet when they were pulled over for speeding.

"On the way there a state trooper pulled us over," Putnam said. "By now we were all covered in blood. She asked what happened and I gave her a 30-second run down. She then escorted us all the way to the veterinary hospital."

Oh yeah, the dog lived but is struggling and missing teeth. The police department is doing nothing about it.

Absolutely nothing. They're pretending it never happened and ignoring them completely, hence the lawsuit.

That was one of my favorite movies loved it !. I think they should use rubber bullets and tazers take away the real guns.

Please don't mistake my post for support of the actions taken. I had plenty more I would like to have said but I chose not to in order to avoid a post ban. I simply wanted to make sure the proper information was provided.

They tried to kill the dog by shooting it in the face but it lived.

I'm not saying you are defending them and it's good to see you aren't because there is no defense for this.

Perhaps the cop was afraid for his life seeing a pit bull but the fact they are doing nothing about it, like paying the vet bills just shows their true character.

And unfortunately this is not an isolated incident.

I thank god and all the Karma etc etc that I was never awoken in the middle of the night by the front door being unhinged. I would have died because it was shoot first at anything and anyone who wanted to break-in to my home. The local Sheriff was a shooting buddy of mine and I had every confidence he would do a Curtsey call if he got wind of some B.S. going down in our small community.

There was a couple of break-ins about 7 miles away where the robbers killed the elderly couple, dog, and everything. My wife had a 410 shotgun by her side of the bed and a 1911 .22.. I had an AR and a 1911 45acp on my side plus a 9mm in the bedroom bathroom. Those were the days hahahha

I keep waiting for a crowd to take base ball bats to the cops head and shoulders or tear some of the Cretans apart for some of the stupid crap they do..One of the reasons I never attended a protest...If someone pushed I am libel to push back; no win situation when dealing with cops. Yep won't happen in the USA we are to civilized..

Earlier dog shootings by cops had a media and an overall call for police training about dogs. How can this stop this gross misconduct if they will not even watch the videos that are provided already?!

Police nationwide are mishandling dog encounters because they have "zero training" in this area, he said, noting such video training is available for free online.

"Had they followed the protocols in these training videos, this would not have happened," Olson said of Chloe's shooting.

"It's too bad not only for my clients and the dog, ... but this is something that is a nationwide epidemic. It's a big problem and it's something that doesn't necessarily have to happen."

In Chloe's case, he said: "There was time, and when there's time, you need to isolate the dog." Olson also said the officers have not made good on their promise to "take care of this." He said Chloe's veterinary bill still has not been covered. And when his clients call the police or state officials about it, he said no one returns their calls.

This PD in particular won't even return contact about the Vet bills, which they SHOULD pay for.

Just a thought about this situation. I think cops making these kind of mistakes started back when SWAT teams where first invented. Before there where SWAT, police would be more careful in what they where doing and when they did go into a dangerous area they checked out everything first. Now that SWAT was invented their caution has been removed. They have become careless in their procedures, and have been emboldened in how they go about their raids. At least this is my opinion.
