Hypotheses on the Silence of Extraterrestrials

We live on the edge of our Galaxy. There was a video posted not long ago, showing how vast our Galaxy is, not to mention the Universe, so I'm sure there are people and wonders much closer to home for them to study. Even with superior technology, it may take them quite a while to reach this far. Would you drive all the way around the world, just to study an ant hill? Personally, I do believe they're out there and may have sent probes to observe us, but I'm not sure they have a catch and release program going on.

The universe is relatively 'consistent' across its entire expanse, all galaxies, nebulae, solar systems, evolve at a consistent and relatively equal rate. Therefore other solar systems bearing life are doing so at a similar rate to ours and therefore may be equally technologically advanced, or slighty more or less advanced than us.

But more likely, the laws of physics prohibit interstellar travel and communication within a timespaceframe to allow inter species contact. Microbial life is probably extremely abundant, but intelligent, and then sentient life, may be extremely rare, so rare that we are simply too far away, seperated by either asynchronicity in evolution, solar system evolution, or space.

Since we have been sending out light speed radio/tv/nuclear bomb blasts for the last 150 years, thats gives a radius that could be detected to a bubble 300 light years across - i dont know how many star systems would be in this range and if life exists on any planets in them - but they would have to be listening.

If where listening and left the day i picked it up it would them 150 to get to us - the chances slim quickly.

Although not the evidence that you seek, don't expect to find it looking on the internet either.

First off, if we are thinking about some SETI type of scenario, it might be that they used communication technologies that are no longer based on the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves).

Maybe they don't know how they would communicate. It seems kind of unlikely they would be able to figure out human languages from a totaly alien context. Even symbols are highly dependent on the context of the species. Communication through mathematics might be tried, but transmiting complex and relevant information ("we come in peace") would be either very difficult or then impossible. Surely something could be figured out with time. In the meantime they would have caused the single greatest change in culture on Earth. That much they would probably be able to figure out.

They may not know who to communicate to. Earth's division into multiple cultures would probably be obvious even from space. Perhaps they would have observed that humans are disunited, there is no institution that would represent humanity as whole and thus nobody to contact.

I doubt they would be willing to just share their technology with us even if they were able to contact us. Perhaps they know we would expect such and do not want to contact because of that. Some sort of "prime directive" scenario is plausible - doubly so if they were once visited and now they don't want to repeat the mistakes of others.

Perhaps they tried and we missed the message.

They may be silent with many but may not be with others GOVerning many... Also if there are systems in play that monitor SOL space activity/visitation "they" may not be permitted to communicate or interact and may sneak in and so must remain silent...

Its all about telepathy. They will only contact those that are not power driven. Most factions reach out to simple, everyday folk, like Billy Meier for instance. This is not to say that some races have not done deals with certain governments (Greys). The races I believe we will meet with first are: Sirians, Plejarens, and Andromedians (actually descended from Lyran stock). Some of these beings look just like us (with slight variations of course). Others will be completely different, yet still hominoid in body type. I also believe that there are races that are anthropomorphic (Sirian Paschats are a good example).

Extraterrestrials might want to observe us without interfering in our world, or influencing us in any way. I suspect not, though. Quite a number of well observed and persistently unexplained UFO reports seem to indicate the presence of an advanced off-world technology. If this is the case, they are influencing us, at least to the extent of allowing their presence to be deduced. They may have already studied us extensively, and now moved on to a very gradual program of introducing themselves to us.
It could be that our violent, xenophobic nature is delaying both contact, and the sharing of technology. This could well explain why straightforward, open contact has not yet occurred. It does seem conceivable that a technology for warping space might be turned to destructive ends, in the wrong hands.

I doubt that all extraterrestrial species would find us too primitive to communicate with. There is, reasonably, a continuum of technological and intellectual advancement, with various species ranging from far below, to near, to far above our level. Those developmentally near us, say a few hundred or a few thousand years our senior, may find us suitable, and interesting communicants.

Many major religions have an inclusive and tolerant attitude toward the concept of intelligent life on other worlds. Perhaps those who are inclined to look for 'demons' can be dissuaded from regarding extraterrestrial as such, by a careful program of very gradual and respectful introduction, as alluded to above.

Your figure of 40 billion earth like planets in our galaxy is quite a bit bigger than what I have read/heard. I have heard that scientists think there may be as many as 100 million habitable planets in our galaxy. That is still alot, and that could be a low estimate, but I have not heard of estimated 40 billion.

I feel that what humans believe to be aliens, are interdemensional beings. The old testament discusses angels and sheidim. Sheidim is translated as demons. It says that angels will always hold their power, and will always exist. Sheidim are a different story. Sheidim live between the fabric of space and time like angels. They can see us but we cant see them. However if they wish to make themselves known to us they can i.e. materialize in a physical sense.
It says that sheidim do not like to interact with humans so they dwell in parts of the world that remain uninhabited. As the world gets smaller one could hypothesize that we are driving them out. Perhaps this notion of the world getting smaller has frightened them, and they are taking any means nessecary to ensure the earth doesnt get any smaller. Maybe it's the opposite.

9) most any civilization that discovers warp drive finds a nearby civilization that is about their own level. And since it's nearly impossible to communicate with them, both think the other is a deadly danger and they lay off each other's planets and reduce them to gamma-irradiated rubble in a trice.
10) one faction on a planet gets there first. So, once the others find out your nation/city-state/hive has warp drive, the others bomb the entire planet into oblivion out of fear/envy etc.

11) there have been many ET civilizations, but galactic colonization is too hard, even with warp drive, so throughout astronomical time, they rise and fall when the planetary resources are depleted, and so the chance that we see them during our technological phase is minuscule. Homo Habilis might have seen a strange light once and went back to his squirrel dinner.
