That's the first of these videos that show actual police brutality and not just half the story...

I just viewed that one...it doesn't show police brutality IMO, it shows lack of situational training. The victim guy did quickly reach deep into his car when the cop asked him for his ID. Men usually keep their license in their pocket and the cop clearly made a horrible call. But he didn't really brutalize the guy in the sense people usually use the term when referring to police. After he shot the gentleman he was actually pretty nice - he's just a incompetent dipsh!t IMO.

To prove his lack of training I'd say he fired his weapon at least 3 times at close range and had only one hit...and not even center mass...

Reminds me of an old comedy bit...can't remember which comedian, but a black comedian obviously from the context...about not wanting to be a "mother f$#!g*" static and moving very slow, loudly saying "I am reaching into my wallet to get my driver’s license..." guess it's funnier when he tells it
Richard Pryor I think

Nope, when i drive I take my wallet out of my pocket and put it in the cup holder because it's uncomfortable to sit on my wallet.

There is no justifying the officers reaction to that video, he stopped the guy for not having a seat belt, there is no reason to assume he is violent. He clearly went into the car after patting his pocket and realizing he didn't have it in his pocket. Don't blame the victim for doing exactly what the officer asked him to do. The fact that he was fired and faces 20 years in prison shows you there is no way to spin it in the officers favor, because they spin in the officers favor ever chance they get.

I've had family in law enforcement, they told me they had to quit because the "badge changes you". There is this code they follow and if you are not following the code the brotherhood then you are ousted. Cops are no better than the prison industry they support. its all a sham, to lock people away and rob them of their lively hood. Debtors prison is real. so is the slavery derived from it, I'm sure we will come to see the error in our ways. its just going to take generations.

That's the first of these videos that show actual police brutality and not just half the story, definitely not like all others where you see a person down and get to hear what onlookers have to say.

Some definitely are not clearly showing the whole incident but,
The woman on the freeway that was beat in the face was awarded 1.5 mil they said on todays news so I guess that one (video) proved its case pretty well.

I also think the guy that was supposedly selling illegal cigarettes, that video clearly showed him NOT resist.

What about the Walmart shooting video?

I bet you've never beenhit by lightning either. Just because you are one out of 350 million people in this nation that have not been abused by the police does not make it go away. The police need to respect its people its serving...otherwise wtf is the point?

Police officers are just scared little puppies with unethically large teeth. You need to realize that they don't process information like normal people. If too much information comes in too fast, they shut down thought process and revert to animal-like instincts. They mean well, but the police force is made up of neanderthals (for a reason) and they don't know any better.

It's like when your puppy accidentally bites your friend - it didn't mean to hurt anyone, it's just too stupid to know any better.

At least puppies learn their lesson eventually..... Maybe I am giving the coppers too much credit.

I saw this and thought about your thread... If already posted disregard..

Andra Amezquita, 44 and five months pregnant, was thrown to the pavement and handcuffed by NYPD 72nd precinct officers in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday.

The woman said she was not trying to stop the police officers from arresting her son, and only approached her son to “console” him before she was harshly attacked by the officers.

Amezquita’s lawyers said police had beaten their client on the abdomen with a baton, and released photos of bruises on the pregnant woman’s stomach.

really the insignia '"protect and serve" would be much more believable reading "punish and enslave"

what gets me is how people can be so blind to this....life will get very ugly for future generations...and both of my children will be part of that......how can we change it ?

Well, there are any number of ways, and a lot of them are bad.

The best way is to persuade law makers to get them under the sort of control that isn't corrupted or part of some conflict of interest. A national certification with an independent commission with a lot of teeth would be one way. LEOs would be a lot more discreet if they knew one really crappy outburst/behavior would immediately end their careers at the least, and end up with some federal pen time at worst.

The local prosecutors to be more afraid of the citizenry than the police unions, would be another.Targeting politicians by removing them from office often gets a fast response. You want to support a cop when it's just insane? Ok. Out you go, disbarred. Your replacement can do the job. Pretty soon, that nol prosse crap against cops would end. You do it, you hit the bricks at least, at worst, your years in law school are a waste. THAT would also take getting some foothold in the bar association. But if the local prosecutors understood at a gut level that they are going to be held accountable for every nol prosse they throw at a cop, they would think a lot about that. Same for mayors and police chiefs. Pretty soon they'd get onboard, and then the crap would end.

The real issue comes down to the cops having NO feedback that's not tied up in a conflict of interest. Since they can get away with just about anything, they do. It's human nature. You can't really expect them to not. Therefore, the most straightforward way would involve creating an unforgettable, life changing feedback that mostly says - great, now you get to sell tractor parts and you can kiss your badge goodbye, for the rest of your life.

Of course, there's the Roman solution. But that won't happen in this day and age.

selling tractor parts is way above their pay grade

that is a matter of opinion

Well, decimation would really get your buddies to control your behavior.

If you had a 10% chance to die (or something representative...lose 10% of your retirement, or 10% of your pay, or 10% of your vacation time) because someone in your precinct was corrupt or out of control, that would do it. You'd get off that ass and stop it. Hell, you'd hunt it DOWN and stop it. But hey, as is, even if your buddy is convicted of a civil rights violation, the taxpayers pay for his transgression.

If YOU did instead, that crap would quickly end.

ummmm, the point of my post was that i HAVE be directly effected by overly "passionate" officers here in the city. because i've been searched several times without any provocation going about my daily work day like it's already a police state here in some places. and I don't trust the police here in brooklyn or anywhere else in the city for that matter. i try to avoid them at all costs. i wouldn't even want to call them if i had a serious issue that might perhaps warrant calling them. because of all the incidents where someone calls the police and then they themselves wind up becoming a victim of their brutality. the very people you call for help. or god forbid something happens at my house and i call the police, then they come by, see my dog isn't chained up inside the living room and the police wind up shooting it to death because it barked at them the wrong way.

so there

Robocop (the original, not the 2014 version BTW)

All kidding aside do I think AI/robots will make the perfect police one day. For a second let us assume there won't be a Terminator/Matrix style judgement day where AI deems humans not fit to exist...robots will be the perfect protectors of potential victims, patrols and enforcers of the law. They'll have no racist tendencies, no ego, no fear ... only whatever programming we give them. Such as:
- serve the public trust
- protect the innocent
- uphold the law

At the very least they could supplement the human police. Sci-fi has covered this ground endlessly (usually with bleak outcomes) and I think it will come to pass eventually.

Your move creep.
