As I went about my daily news reading, I stumbled upon a few articles you may find interest in...

WMD just a convenient excuse for war, admits Wolfowitz

Not that most American's give a damn anymore about the WMD, little to my (and I am sure everyone's here) surprise.

There is this guy I work with. We sometimes have discussions about the Iraq war. As he said in his own words..."I am glad Saddam's gone now, I hate that bastard and what he did on 9/11."

I couldn't help but ask why he thought Saddam had something to do with 9/11, he replied..."I know he had something to do with it, I just know."

I am sure that these thoughts are not reserved to just this particular person. Makes me wonder just how many Americans think this way, without rhyme or reason.

Washington shelved report of 44-trillion-dollar deficit

44 Trillion dollars? I can hardly comprehend an amount of money that large. If this be true, what good can be said of the tax cuts passed, and the numerous ones they are devising?

A question I continue to ask avid Bush supporters. Just what good has Bush done for anyone but a minority of friends, relatives, cohorts, corporations, or election contributors?

Death row inmate may jump transplant queue

Who's to blame for this one? Uncaring people whom run Oregon, or the administration's disregard for fiscal responsibility at a time when states are at the worst budget crisis in years?

Waggy Dog Stories

I enjoy reading Paul Krugman, he touches on alot of points that are never mentioned in the mainstream. None of these questions would ever be answered by a Bu#e, they would simply be dismissed. It would be nice to just dismiss any and all criticism that came towards me.

And this surprises you..how?

I am rather irritated with the cattle like mentality of Americans. Its blaring in front of them there were no WMDs in Iraq, just like it was blaringly clear before the war. They dont care. They, like the masses of any country, cannot see beyond thier menial lives at the implications of this. Sick sick sick!

The obvious answer to the terror problem would be to attack or make demands and pressures on Saudi Arabia. Now theres a valid target, the fund, produce, and train terrorists all the time. If the removal of terror was the real objective, Saudi would be gone.

But the cud chewers simply dont care what this Iraq mess means to the security of thier grazing.

UTTER AND COMPLETE MORONS.

take away the beer, the sports, the reality tv, the fast food, and then see what happens. Once that happens, people will realize that they were being shoveled this crap since day one in order to take their minds off of what is really important.

It really isnt a big surprise. I have a theory that the reason people dont care, IS because we are being fed this daily diet of nothing. Take this Laci Peterson case for example. Dont get me wrong, it's a tragedy what happened, but I dont need to see it in the headlines for 5 months straight do I? I think that storys like these are worth noting most definitely, but I also think they are a distraction. To take our minds off of the real issues that are going on. So that way, when we are actually living in a 1984 Orwellian state, we can look back and they can say that it was all there in front of us but we did nothing about it.

Terrorism is an idea of sorts. Fighting an idea is impossible. Impossible because it's just that, an idea. It's not something you can physically destroy, just like Communism, it's been fought and fought, but still isnt dead (not alive as it was I imagine, but it's still there.) All of this that's going on right now is all part of a much bigger plan.

but like I said, take away the leisure things and then see what happens.

I'm not the least bit surprised, I just find it all very hilarious because of how obvious it is, yet no one cares if you tell them.

What feedback do you get if you bring up discussions such as this? "Oh, Saddam's gone, that's all that mattered," or "Saddam destroyed all his WMD's seconds before the war started, Bush said so." Good little automaton robots, go to sleep, obey...

Most people couldn't face the harsh truth no matter how many luxuries and distractions you took away. People have become complacent in their ignorance.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Laci also. Sure it was bad and whatever, sure justice needs to be served, we are all touched blah blah blah. People all over the world die in much more horrible ways than laci and her not-quite-a-brat did. Or that Smart kid, I got extremely tired of that as well. She probably ran away because of her overbearing, rich, yuppie parents.

Or what about when twins, or quintuplets are born, honestly, do you really give a sh!t about these things? Being born twins or quintuplets is probably the first and last accomplishment these kids will achieve anyhow.

Gives FTW a whole new meaning...

Vanity fair misquoted Wolfowitz and soon after the deficit charge, the administration disputed it. In all fairness, Wolfowitz's real comments weren't much better and the US is indeed financially screwed.

Laci..Chandra...it's almost too predictable. I'm not sure if this represent a universal rot in the US population or the long-standing rot in the media. I guess the Internet owes half of its popularity to the latter.
Nevertheless: it's in the nature of the mass-media that it is there that the clues -albeit hidden - are most likely to be found.
Remember: it was the Times that Orwell's Winston Smith used to falsify.
Also, it may be that the population is not so much gullible and credulous as apathetic: international Realpolitik as a soap opera.
I'll wager that next year's elections see little if any honest presentation of the grave economic issues on the part of either main party.

Remeber the OJ trial? Did u know I never saw # on it, nor cared? Why? because I was overseas in the army, stationed in Germany, concerned about the Bosnia/ Serbia thing. No one in America was aware of Clinton getting booed by his own troops, no one aware of the US soldiers getting shipped out on Christmas day. Why? because the media showed OJ. Why did the media concentrate on the marital problems of a has been athlete? Was it public demand or rot in the emdia? Who Knows? I think both.

1. we all knew he didnt have WMD as soon as the 'Coalition forces' (and i use that term very loosely) crossed the Iraq border and nothing happened. they were street fighting and nothing happened.

2. 44 trillion? jesus thats a crap load. in NZ we actually have something called a SURPLUS so that we can pay the world bank back. some how i think the US goverment should hear this idea.

3. when it says jump does that mean off the queue or up the Queue, eather way it is sheer stupidity, why on earth would you give a deathrow inmate a donor organ, there are so many people not in prison that need them.

4.no comment.
