Americans were killed, wounded or taken hostage according to a spokesperson from the US Embassy. Several members of the Saudi forces were killed in
Monday's attack.

CNN) -- Five Saudi militants attacked the U.S. Consulate in the Saudi port city of Jeddah, but Saudi security forces killed three of them and wounded
two others, the Saudi Interior Ministry said.
A U.S. Embassy spokeswoman in Riyadh said no Americans had been taken hostage or wounded but that two members of the local staff had been injured.

Officials say that the militants threw explosives at the Consulate gate and then exchanged gunfire with the guards. A spokesperson claims that many
third country nationals had been taken hostage for sometime but had been released. They suffered minor wounds. Also they believe that the militants
threw grenades so the attackers could storm the consulate. They used the grenades as diversions.
A senior Bush official says they believe the Al Qaeda is suspected in the attack.
