Some breaking news from RT...

Donetsk, Lugansk Republics ready to remain part of Ukraine, seek special status

At talks in the Belarusian capital, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have urged Kiev to acknowledge their autonomy within Ukraine, but said they wish to remain an integral part of the country.

LNR and DNR representatives urged the Ukrainian government to end their military operation in the country’s east so that parliamentary and local elections can take place freely.

They also suggest creating a commission to develop an agreement on the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the reconstruction of the Donetsk Region.

The republics also propose that Kiev agree to a special law enforcement mode, and the appointment of prosecutors and judges by the authorities of the republics.

DETAILS TO FOLLOW

So much for a Russian takeover...
It's hard to elaborate further without more details but this clearly shows it's a civil conflict with Lugansk & Donetsk hoping for autonomy but to remain Ukrainian...

Where's the anti Russian brigade to piss all over this bonfire then...

Edit: To be honest I can't see Kiev agreeing to this...
& Russia may consider taking it further in future ala Crimea...

We'll have to wait and see I guess!

The core issue is, there is a very strong anti-Russian sentiment persisting in Kiev, without considering the fact, that part of the country is indeed pre-dominantly of Russian ethnicity. They really should consider unity of the country, and acknowledge presence of various minorities and ethnicities, and try to easy up such confrontations through negotiations, and stepping down from reliance on military actions as the primary method. To make all that worse, there is a strong presence of militias in the war zones, which are made of individuals who indeed would like to see as many Russians dead as possible - that hardly helping in the political process.

And what comes to the hopes for autonomy - considering how well that went in Crimea - "autonomy" is a heavy word as well, albeit how well one would understand the heavy human cost the Russians at Ukraine have had to pay so far.

Add to toll the fact, Kiev has totally lost credibility in the eyes of Moscow, and the World, it is difficult to see how the future relations will develop. Relations to Russia, relations to Russian Ukraine, and to European Union, or to Nato. How can EU or Nato collaborate with Kiev, knowing, the interests of Kiev might be to only seek further opportunities to escalate relations to Moscow.

On the other hand, the parliamentary process in Kiev - is that already a challenge... voting Kiev style

They messed up big time thinking Russia would help them after Crimea had their quick election

Perhaps Russia might have but every time I hear that NATO spokesperson on the radio he sounds like he realy wants a war with Russia!

I'm amazed Russia hasn't gone in quick like they did in Georgia when the governments military were shelling civilians but I think they see Ukraine as a trap and have no intention of taking the bait

Kiev Junta financed by Western Bankers would legitimize themselves if they took that deal.

But just like drug dealers, you can take them to fancy places, dress them up, they are still scum. They think and behave like scum.
