If only it could magically blow it's dust directly to Africa and obliterate ebola instead or the middle east and do it's stuff there.

After such a warm summer too.

I guess if it's colder the flood risk would be less.

The British are good at surviving the cold though IMO all the governments messed up the economy from years back, there could have been free energy, at least in winter.

I always have lots of Earl Grey, Chamomile and other tea and my home is well insulated but the infrastructure, well, I am in the south of England.

I grew up in rural Scotland, used to 3 ft high snow every winter and much colder temperatures, also where the farmers are on gritting standby instead of local authority trucks that can't function in the snow.

If only volcano power could be harnessed safely.

We tend to forget here in the UK that we're really very far North, as far North as parts of Siberia. It's just the gulf stream that keeps us temperate.

If the gulf stream continues to shift, or if this volcano thing blows, then yeah, the UK will become rather like Siberia.

After the year before lasts snow , the very mild last winter and warm
Summer I wouldn't be surprised if we get a severe cold winter this year, with or without the volcanoes help. I'll be breaking out the chainsaw in the morning to get the wood pile looking healthy. Next job is to re plumb the heating system after the cowboys who installed it. I'm from as far south in the British isles as you can get and the problem we get is do air from the channel which makes the weather seem 10c lower than it is. If I've understood the thread correctly this is a worst case scenario but fingers crossed that it doesn't happen for the sake of the elderly and homeless

If Iceland isn't fracking, and (tin foil hat here) HAARP isn't used, the UK should be ok in that regard; your hand might be forced and your food might be GMO from the US, unless you can get Italy to grow your essentials for you like they now grow the grapes for France, but other than that, I don't think you guys going into a deep freeze is going to hurt that much. Consider it a break from the rain.

Britain could freeze.

Good. We have had too many mild winters. It would be nice to have some half decent cold weather for a change.

Regards

I saw the headline and before I even hovered over the link I said to myself "Daily Express".

I owe myself ten pounds.

The Daily Express is the biggest load of tosh out there when it comes to the weather. They assured is last year would have the coldest winter in 300 years. It was actually one of the mildest on record.

They also predicted the hottest August in record this year. So far it has been colder than average.

If you see a weather story in the Express, plump for the opposite and you won't go far wrong.
