No known threats... Yet ISIS stated they want to end the US and threatened to destroy a US city.

I guess my definition of no known threats is different than the governments.

On the conspiracy side I wonder if this is just not a ploy by the White House to change the story from the laws the White House broke.

I am sure their next warning bulletin will be aimed at the sun and the dangers it creates when it sets and rises.

Too late for that now. They should have acted against this threat no later than two years ago... But they were seen as potentially useful back then.

They're here!

Time to make it seem like "ISIS" is in America and ready to attack so the sheep will get nervous. Better look out because I feel a bombing coming on. The US will have to "protect freedom from terrorists". blah blah blah rinse and repeat.

I think your view of the situation is just as relevant as mine. I am concerned with the southern border because my state is being inundated with illegals, and the lack of security at the border is a driving force behind many foreign born individuals taking advantage of the lax security. Yes, sympathizers do pose an imminent threat to our country. So does an extremely porous border.

To focus solely on one, and ignore the other, is not realistic in this day and age. To be vigilant, we need to secure all our borders, and then get all the alphabet agencies working on the problem at hand.

Agreed, but posters are making it sound like DHS is making a statement that ISIS is sneaking into this country when that's not the case. They are simply sending out a bulletin to LEO asking them to be aware of a possible threat by sympathizers. That was my point.

Yes, our borders are so porous Putin could drive a convoy across and we probably wouldn't realize it until we started seeing Borscht in Happy Meals! I just see this as two separate issues at the moment considering some in IS already have US passports...hopefully someone in this gov't knows who they are!

Isn't the case?... Are you certain?

These Islamic extremists are here, they have unique and very effective ways of recruiting from the domestic population wherever they go. Once a recruit is a loyal member are they still considered a "sympathizer"?

Ten good loyal recruiters can become an army of THOUSANDS....

I was referring to the statement and not the idea that IS members could be within our borders. Let's take an honest look at the supposed "threat" that we've been under since the events of 9/11/01. If these Islamic extremists were truly in this country...where are they? On 9/12/01 they had the momentum and they did nothing. Why? Why didn't they carry out more attacks if they're here? They could have absolutely ruined us with only a handful of extremists using small arms. But there was nothing.

The only thing that threat did was militarize our police and you could say that's pretty significant. I think everyone can agree that the militarization of LEOs is just plain wrong and needs to be seriously drawn down. But that discussion if for another thread.

Now, we have the latest "threat" that's not really a threat at this point. Folks are getting wrapped up in a bulletin for LEOs to be on the look out for IS sympathizers...that's it...be on the look out for sympathizers. There was no mention of credible threats or groups of Islamic Extremists coming into the US. No, just a simple bulletin. Yet we react to this and add our own threats and "facts", working ourselves into a frenzy. No wonder LEOs are driving in MRAPs!

That said, one sympathizer who makes a name for himself by shooting up a mall (or other soft target) could get several more copy cat Jihadists to do the same....Not a good situation...because those copy cats beget more and more and so on. There are probably (some would say certainly) American born fighters with IS who hold US Passports...not a good situation. As I stated, hopefully someone in this Big Brother gov't knows who they are and can stop them from reentering the US.

The reality is, that they are already here, and we will not know it until they strike. They are not going to fly in, but will be well entrenched in the communities and different states. Then they will get their orders, probably via mail, and ultimately then strike.

so what has brought you to this conclusion?

i'm genuinely curious as to why you would so easily dismiss this as a possibility.

i mean, do you know something we don't, or is this just opinion? seriously, talk to me..

And so it begins! I wonder how many of them got through via Mexico.

– Federal authorities sent a bulletin to U.S. law enforcement Friday in light of the threat concerning militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), according to CBS News.

The bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI cites no known threat to the U.S. homeland, but reminds law enforcement to be alert and aware of the ISIS threat, CBS reported.

Hey F Tards.... Remember New Jersey and 9/11?? And Wayne PA..... [any NSA people or whatnot.... Go LOOK IN NJ f-tards.....why do you think we moved to the west coast??

Oh it begins alright. A new boogieman that just happens to justify a terror alert when the real reason the police need to be vigilant is obviously domestic dissent.

No part of ISIS came in from Mexico... or from the middle east. ISIS was born in Langley Virginia very recently.

Isn't it interesting that we're finally about to get what we always wanted back when we still thought the war on terror was a good idea just suffering from unfavorable circumstances
  • a terrorist nation to wage a conventional war on
  • the defacto splitting of Iraq into 3 more stable, less internationally significant fragments without it being obviously our fault.
  • virtually every unstable government in the middle east either regime changed or begging for our help
  • locals doing the fighting on the ground for us

And that's just the obvious stuff that comes to me immediately.
It's quite brilliant in an "if only it would accomplish anything" sort of way- the bush admin pushed Egypt and others for electoral reforms at the same time they were meddling in Eastern European elections and then backing color revolutions when the results were not accepted.
Then after we pulled out of the Middle East (to the extent that we did anyway) the same election-refusual-revolution scenario plays out across the middle east, with our allies spared and our enemies prevented from saving themselves.
The revolutions conveniently fell into the hands of radicals who waged war on governments we didn't like.
Now that the governments are ready to crack we are preparing to intervene against some kind of terrorist super-state before it can actually come into being.

Sweep it all up, related and not. The orders apparently stand. Bush and Cheney warned us that they had committed to a long term strategy that it was too late for their successor to turn away from, warning them not to paint themselves into a corner in the 2008 democratic primary.

you make a somewhat valid point....HOWEVER...

there are still people who believe that what is in the official 9/11 report is the god's honest truth, they believe osama planned it, and was the "mastermind" of the whole affair....they still think iraq had something to do with it.....these are the people who are still living in fear to this day, of terrorists under every rock.....these are the people who are speaking for us, and empowering the federal government to violate our rights under the law...

it is a fact that our southern border is very porous, it's a fact that thousands of people slip across it every day, it's a fact that there are groups of people who are not terribly smart, but are VERY determined, and VERY dedicated to their beliefs, who want to kill americans, because they see ALL of us as the enemy, whether it be for religious reasons, or just because they hate what our jackass federal government has done to their part of the world.... and it's entirely possible that some of these radical militant jihadists could just as easily slip in here, and maybe do something..

i mean, you've got the sign in ferguson, saying "ISIS HERE", you've got the thing with the person taking a picture of the white house, while displaying an image of the islamic state's flag.......i mean, if these people aren't WITH isis, they're most likely supporters of it....and that's a whole other issue..

yes, there are REAL threats....but they're not the ginned up "terror plots" that the FBI keeps bragging about stopping, most of which weren't even real to begin with...they're not the color alerts for non-specific nonsense from DHS, and they're not the "OMG, TERRORISTS EFERYWHUR" scaremongering by the MSM....

but some nutbag zealots slipping over the US/Mexico border?.....i can see that happening, and it doesn't make me feel very safe..

not saying i live in fear of terrorists, because honestly, i've got a better chance of getting hit by a car, catching a cold, being struck by lighting, or falling down a flight of stairs, than i do of getting killed by a terrorist.....but i'm saying it's pretty ignorant, to just dismiss even the POSSIBILITY out of hand, without some serious thought first. i'm not gonna stop living my life, or "give up" any of my rights...but i'm also not gonna act like it's not a thing that's possible either...

oh wow...it might seem horrible, but i kinda forgot that it was that time again....is that bad?

but yeah, every year, in early september, they go all chicken little on us, and keep trying to scare the bejesus out of people, almost as if to say "we're still here, and we're f**king important, PAY ATTENTION TO US!", like some sort of neglected bastard child....as if evoking the events of that day, somehow reinforces their relevance, necessity, or legitimacy, which in my opinion, they are completely bereft of...

the problem with this strategy, is that eventually, the scare wears off....it's like someone who wears the same costume for halloween every year....it might be REALLY well made, and really terrifying...but if you wear it every year, you go from being the most terrifying thing on earth, to "bob", and nobody is scared anymore, and the people stop giving you candy, and it just ruins everything, because they stop giving your friends candy too, for just being at the door at the same time as bob, lol..

my point is, i completely forgot it was time for our pre-halloween dose of frights...

Yep, This entire ISIS thing has come into being way too fast and furious. Too much happening too soon all over the place. I feel like this faction is much like the Al-CIA-da boogie man we were told existed. Now, it is ISIS. Langley brain child...maybe.

I recently read about a "merc" type of group/business located in New Mexico, I think...strangely, they are called ISIS. Interesting. Perhaps the boogie man is already here. Otherwise, as has been stated, when there is tech here in the USA that can read our license plates from a satellite and listen to and read every word we say or write, how is it these folks can be such a threat...unless this is another planned strategy. Still can't forget about that mislaid nuke...the one from Minot to BAFB.

and once they vanish, the media goes into overdrive, painting the residents as "poor, hard working americans, who were murdered by brutal terrorists"...

then they get everyone whipped up into a froth, and the next thing you know, people are driving around with "let's roll" bumper stickers on their cars again, and begging the government to waste MORE money it doesn't have to engage in ANOTHER 10 year waste of soldiers, in an unwinnable offensive action against an enemy with the staying power to bankrupt nations...

they'll also beg for the government to curtail our constitutional rights, and civil liberties, take our guns, and turn us into a REAL police state....

yes, people slipping over the border, with the intent do us harm is a definite possibility, but honestly, they need to do very little, to get us to destroy ourselves...

I get what you're saying and I agree. I didn't mean for my comment to come across as if to say, "Bullsh*t, it's all fake." But more like, "Bullsh*t, whatever we're being told is mixed heavily with Bullsh*t".

I know there are certainly real groups and individuals who hate America and want to see it fall. Hell, it's by our own actions abroad that have created and trained many of them to begin with. Then there are just the normal percentage of radical kooks too. Kooks don't usually get too far but the ones we create might and do on occasion.

But I think we'll also agree that while we have many True American men and women out there defending us from these people we also have an inside group within those same "Security Agencies" that actively support and aide these terrorist groups so that they can attack us. Some people I know just refuse to believe it. But we both know it's true.

So when Officials come out and with these warnings, I'm not saying they are always false. But to some degree, they are all full of sh*t because they want everyone to believe this fairy tale about the fight between the good guy US Security Forces and the Bad Guy Terrorists from across the globe. But that's Bullsh*t. Our Security Forces, just like our Government is and has been corrupted from inside and has a history of destroying us every bit as much, if not more, than terrorists from across the globe.

well, i mean a lot of people (citizens) from the states flocked to the middle east, to fight with the jihadists, AGAINST american forces.....these were the people who had the means to actually travel.....i imagine there are a lot more who support the cause, but couldn't travel...if s**t goes down HERE...well, it's a lot cheaper to travel to another state....so i'd say that could be a problem....

kinda sucks, but i'm not gonna mince words, or sugar coat this...
