edit now it says crashed
edit now most of the links arent working anymore

www.cbsnews.com...

www.bbc.co.uk... the ticker doesnt direct to it any more

if it was brought down, then this is bad as its a whole new phase

the situation just goes worse to worse

Jump to conclusions much? It's being reported as a mechanical failure, which makes sense. It's an Mi-17, which Iraq has used with various success over the years but with the state of their military right now maintenance has to be difficult at best.

Quick work diagnosing mechanical failure in those conditions.

Considering that it's already been reported that it suffered a failure of some kind, and almost everyone on board survived, yeah it should be pretty easy to figure out.

Helicopters crash. Even in war zones.

My understanding is Helicopters are difficult to work on in perfect situations... middle of civil war desert environment on top of doing those aid runs, over loading it on weight (I am guessing) adding to the normal stress on the motor and flight controls... mechanical is almost always my first thought when they go down in that type of environment.

A quick look shows several versions with varied blame.

All good except for the 'war' bit. War involves use of those things profiteers love selling. Weapons.

So helicopters don't suffer mechanical failures in war? That's interesting to know.

are you all overlooking the Obvious...
There must be an IS/Caliphate (secret) supporter working as a flightline mechanic to (covertly) sabotage Iraqi aircrafts

I mean there are Military Chaplains or/and Psychiatrists stationed on military bases in the States going 'Allah Akbar' on unsuspecting troops
why not over there in the heat of the conflict

The report says it was overloaded with people jumping on board. The pilot was killed, others were injured.
Perhaps to clarify things for everybody, one other helicopter with refugees on board was shot at, but they escaped.

Not everything is a conspiracy, or "cover-up."

That's right.

Everyone knows it's Aliens.

Because the obvious answer is dull and boring.

This is a more direct link for the BBC story OP.

www.bbc.co.uk...

There is not a lot of info compared to the CBS report, although it does say the helicopter belonged to Kurdish forces.

Why is this thread still even up? It has already been posted in the same forum, with the same exact subject.

And even though the search function at ATS is not the friendliest, even I saw it.

Right, because overloaded helicopters that may be irregularly maintained, flying in mountainous air never have mechanical problems.
