im confused, is OP exaggerating the capabilities of AC130 or just rah-rah-murica lets kill ISIS comedy time ?
i mean gunships are not supposed to operate if the enemy have big calibre AAA and MANPADS.. what do we know about ISIS anti air capability ? even in vietnam steel tiger operation , they only go at night and have to fly pretty high to avoid NVA's 40mm and 57mm calibre AAA , and when the NVA introduced Manpads and SAM onto the trail, all AC130 hauled ass..
i wonder if the modern AC130 still got rear and side scanner looking out for AAA/SAM..

the weapons you listed cannot be fired above certain altitude as the rounds will tumble .. even the 105 have max altitude limitation.. so the gunship itself my fly higher but the weapon itself wont be effective. unless gunships carry hellfires

Currently in Iraq the US is using F-16 Falcons, F-15E Eagles, F/A-18C and E Hornets and drones with usually 500lb laser guided PGMs and missiles. Very accurate and powerful.
To avoid MANPADS and most AAA they stay above 15,000ft. Above 15,000ft the 20mm, 40mm and 105mm weapons on the AC-130 are ineffective.
