Can President Obama Be Impeached?

I think if the truth ever really got out, Obama wouldn't just be impeached, he'd serve the rest of his life in a maximum security prison. If he was lucky. But sitting next to him in neighboring cells would be all the other ex POTUS, Supreme Court Justices, politicians from both parties, heads of state, top agency heads, business tycoons, banking CEOs, media moguls. I think they'd use nothing short of nuclear blackmail to prevent that from happening but at least they'd be exposed for what they are.

If we put them all in prison, which language do you prefer speaking in America? Russian or Mandarin Chinese?

If we forsake all leadership and demonstrate we are no longer able to maintain or govern one of the largest nations in the world, then others absolutely will take what we have and govern it for us. That won't be to our benefit, but it will happen if we keep making the destruction of our own nation one of the popular fads of the moment.

Obama needs to take a hard fall into the very legal system his education made him an expert on, but if that ever happens? I suggest the time has come to reevaluate and take stock before going after more. Insure our nation can endure what needs done, or we'll do the right thing for the worst reasons and lose everything in the end.

It will take 67 votes in the Senate to indict; not impeach. Impeachment is solely the responsibility of the House of Representatives.

The precedents set forth on impeachment and even the language of the Constitution is still heavily in the favor of the person being sought for impeachment; may it be the President or another Officer of the United States.

While I despise the policies and his manner of governance; I personally haven't seen an impeachable offence. The closest is the apparent and sudden wonder of what is going on in his departments (you know the whole "I found out like you did on the news"....even though he "doesn't" watch the news)

That type of maladministration though was highlighted by James Madison within the Federalist Papers and is hard to find as an impeachable offence.

Agreed. Impeachment isn't the problem and that isn't what might normally worry Obama. If the House opens proceedings with enough to make it worth the effort, they won't fail to impeach him. That just makes a footnote in a page of a history book. Clinton was impeached.

The Senate still has to convict.

The problem is, Harry Reid then laughs at those voices only he can hear or whatever drives him these days, because it would have a snowballs chance of even getting a fair hearing. Reid could retire, but then I could wake up to Sept 10th, 2001 too. It's just so unlikely, it's almost delusional to consider. Harry has the same term length right now as Obama himself. 2016.

Along with Andrew Johnson; it is and has always been a mechanism that should be exercised when acts could be proven to warrant removal from office. President Clinton's lying under oath to a grand jury would land any normal person a night in the clanker; he continued to be the executive of the most powerful nation on the planet. The same goes with President Johnson.

Alas, we do have a control mechanism in place that helps temper political witch hunts from removing public officials for petty happenings. In the case of Andrew Johnson, his "crimes" were only found to be unconstitutional after his impeachment proceedings, while Bill Clinton's were found at the time of the "crime".

President Obama's actions are questionable at best, but I defer to Congress to determine that and that is what they have done with proceeding to take the Executive to court. Given the jurisprudence, this should go straight to the Supreme Court of the United States.

If found in opinion of the Congress, the Executive will have to pull back much what they have done via "executive" action and if they don't, then and only then (for the time being) will Congress have the political clout to pursue impeachment proceedings.

There you have it. Political reality is what this is about. Obama has crossed more than one line in a way which either side would see well enough if it were the "other guy" doing it. I can only see it being as mixed as it still is by the people who have become so polarized that everything looks right or left anymore.

Obama isn't even my biggest fear anymore for why he still needs to account for this all in some way. Obama only has 2 years left of a lame duck term. The next President, whichever side they are and whoever it turns out to be? They will simply take Obamas excess as their own rough starting point where they go bad themselves.

If not now, when? I would prefer never, and impeachment can't be a "close enough is good enough" move. They only ever get one chance and he comes out stronger by far if they try and fail. I agree with the law suit and fully support the idea of it going straight to the Supremes. It must, eventually anyway by it's very nature.

2 direct standing leaders within the National Command Authority are going to war in their own private donnybrook is what this comes down to. The Supers better earn their paycheck and get some things settled in all the uncertainty.

If there is an impeachment it will prob. be a dog and pony show a lot like it was for Clinton - nothing will really come of it.

Politicians aren't in business to put away one of their own. You know how people talk about the thin blue line for police officers and not reporting corrupt officers? Yeah, politicians operate pretty much the same way.
