.50-Caliber Gunfire! ... ( Border Patrol scrambling )

RINCON PENINSULA, Texas -- U.S. Border Patrol agents on the American side of the Rio Grande were forced to take cover Friday night when high-caliber weaponry was fired at them from the Mexican side of the river, sources told FoxNews.com.

"When the shooting stopped, about 40 to 50 people came out on the U.S. side and turned themselves in. So clearly the rounds were being fired to suppress every effort to stop anybody intervening with anyone or anything coming across," Gohmert added. "We have no idea what or how many or whom came across with the other illegal immigrants."

Sources said they believe the gunfire came from members of Mexican drug cartels, which include former military members trained in shooting that type of weaponry.

"I don't know why we're out here like sitting ducks," one Border Patrol source said. "We need help."

They could have stopped this non-sense years ago, but since it has been planned we are supposed to just sit back and take it.

I know nothing about international law. How can this gun-fire by possibly only one individual be considered an act of war on the United States?

Changing perspective, should one of the volunteer border guards fire across the border, would it be an act of war on Mexico?

I suppose Brian Terry was an act of peace?
These cartels need to be wiped out....permantently...

Act of war by what? The cartels? We already declared a "war on drugs" a long time ago. Remember, it's why there are cartels in the first place.

If cartels are shooting at our government, they are simply fighting the war we already declared.

Yes volunteers and militia are both taught not to send rounds down range towards the border for that very reason. Its no different if the cartel does it, it just says that the mexican government can no longer control the cartels.

Where's the fun in stopping a war or your border when you can create 2 or 3 a year in someone else's backyard ;-)

Seems to be US political history. Look at the Ukraine, Syria, Libya, etc.. It's almost like a ride in Disneyland with Mickey Mouse as the conductor.

How crazy is that, To be shot at by a .50 is probably the scariest things next to being mortared or bombed..and now that I mention that Do you think the cartels have that kind of fire power if they have a .50?

between fast and the furious and surplus dated (but still very deadly) weaponry the cartels are armed as good if not better then any terrorist group in the world.

hell the cartels put most countries to shame militarily. they got $$$$$ like you've never seen.

As minds eye stated fast and furious and probably any other kinds of weapons imaginable at their disposal. As of now they have never needed a rocket launcher or mortar. That is not to say they don't have them and won't use them at some point.

Sad thing is Fast and Furious was created by the Obama admin do you think he is going to authorize any sort of crack down on the border militarily? Probably not.

Not really, though is it? That would that mean that all terror attacks are an act of war or that every violent action from a person of one country to a person of another is an act of war.

How do we even know these people aren't are expat Americans?

Yes it is. As I mentioned before Americans have come under contact on this side of the border, but in that scenario it is hard to know who exactly. But shots coming across the border is a totally different ball game.

It is not an act of war, it is an act of intimidation.
What I don't get is the 40-50 people turning themselves in and then the article saying this was used to get people thru.....

Also find it strange the border patrol had no comment on it. They were all talk when it came to the helicopter incident.
Of course it is probably obama not letting them talk on this one

How could this have been stopped years ago? The only to have stopped this kind of event is to have taken out the cartels completely and we have never been any where near that

They haven't been able to control the cartels for a looong time.

It sucks because I always wanted to visit Mexico, but now.. I don't know. It's just too dangerous. Look what happened to that guy who tried to drive through Mexico to the world cup.

He was found in bags in the desert with his motorcycle surrounded by small packs of coke and pot (to show who killed him). He was being escorted by military, but it is well known that the cartels pose as military and do traffic stops. So either the knights templar cartel stopped him pretending to be military OR one of the militias that fight the military set up a roadblock and they look so unsavory (they where masks and carry guns and dress plainclothes) that he tried to drive through without stopping which usually causes them to fire. The fact he was cut up in bags though leads me to believe it was cartel.

That is honestly crazy...and Minds eye is also right with the whole $$$$$ thing..they are rolling in the doe because of our government lol. I wonder if they are kicking themselves in the ass now for the fast and furious operation....
