Why does it have to be a ship?

What you mean?

Anything that goes earth to LEO is technically a ship same as anything that goes further that LEO.

Either way you need some sort of device to get any space stations, shuttles, satellites ect into orbit.

For something like Olympus you need a pretty big device like a Saturn V rocket too.

Olympus doesn't necessary have to be a ship. It could be a base, or a station.

I wouldn't care whether it's a ship, base, space station, flotilla, or sail ship. If the world governments would finally come out with the truth about our place in the universe and finally disclose that we aren't alone, I'd be thrilled. I'd be even more thrilled to know that humanity has the ability to travel amongst the stars.

Such great possibilities.

O sorry think we misunderstand each other.

I know Olympus is a nation or was meant to be anyway.

I was referring to the planed means to get it up via Saturn V's

My point was to get it up needed 1 Saturn V and a few dozen Saturn V to keep it crewed and supplied over 5 years.

My point was if Olympus went a ahead surely someone would have notice Saturn V's going missing or being built?

Never, ever, not once have I ever stated in any way we ever needed or required Saturn Vs.

Not once.

Ever.

You think we built Orion on earth and lifted it off? then you really haven't been paying attention at all.

I get what you PM'd me. But that ah certain method you described wouldst be able to life heavy payloads needed to build a station or orion in Orbit you would need some sort of heavy life Vehicle like a Saturn V rocket or the SLS.

Unless there is another more "novel" approach.

SSTO, or piggyback on an aircraft as the first stage and launch at higher altitudes.

IF thats there case why is Boeing and LM still spending so much to develop SSTO's?

A few months back you talked about boeing have breakthrough propulsion project in the works. Why bother if they already have such things?

Just trying to add things up.

I didn't specify Boeing actually. They have access to it, but it wasn't through them. The advance mentioned won't do any good for an SSTO.

If the military developed one, that doesn't necessarily mean that Boeing, or whoever built it is allowed to then use that technology for a civilian version. If the tech used is classified then they have to develop something new to do the same thing.

Ok were getting somewhere here.

Next question whats the point of the X-37 ? Again wasted money if you have something better for your secret projects.

Also whats the point in using Atlas Rockets to get your satellite gear into orbit for that matter?

I don't think the boys running the X-37 and other black projects have access to the "better" stuff. Two different entities.
They know about it but they can't utilize it like they would like.

The X-37 keeps other assets from being tied up when they could be used elsewhere.

The point of a secret program is that no one knows about it. If you suddenly stop launching rockets, either you've stopped your space program, or you just blew your secret program wide open.

Ironically, that is one of the few fields that is absolutely required for any long term travel.

Glad the first Men of Goodwill never took your view point. Or else they would of failed before even trying.

GATEWAY came first. First. Then Orion. Second.

Gateway as in...STAR GATEWAY perhaps? Something able to transport items near instantly to far flung locales and vistas?

And since mentioning stargate.... could something hypotetically exist and be in operation?

Think of it more as 'photonic placement' and you nine tenths of the way there.

That would just melt ATS to the core so I'll just say 'Yeah, a little hop skip and voila is possible but not in any way you see on TV'.

Well since we are all information in a solid medium so to speak. it wouldnt surprise me. I do have a article on soem chinese scientist sending information 10 miles by teleportation though.

BEam my INFO UP SCOTTY!

I take it ours is much more advanced from the hints. Hypothetically speaking of course.
