Super Typhoon Neoguri Approaching Japan - CAT. 5 WILL SLAM INTO OKINAWA, THEN MOVE N. ACROSS JAPAN

Storms of this magnitude can be quite devastating, but coupled with the problems already being faced at Fukashima I wonder what impact this will have? Authorities do not seem to be too worried about what has occurred at that place. At least not from what I have seen. I think it is a pretty big deal, but maybe I'm wrong.

I got to Keesler AFB in Biloxi right after Katrina, and the place was a disaster. The guys on base said they evacuated the place before the storm hit. Flew everyone out. I imagine that if the storm were large enough they would do the same for any Pacific bases in the path of the storm.

aside from fukushima, japan builds in prep for big storms so they at least have that.

They'll send any fighters that won't fit in a hanger to Guam for Okinawa, or Elmendorf for Japan. Anything not needed to move the fighters will go to those two, or Hickam.

Looks like it weakened to a tropical storm by the time it got to Tokyo. There was a lot of rain and flooding. I believe there were 3 dead. Most of the trains are resuming service, as well as airlines. I hope everyone living in that area got through okay. I lived in Japan for a couple of years, and went through a couple of typhoons.
