The Formation of Adirondack State
A proposal to split New York state into several entities:

As a resident of New york State (Adirondack Region)
i can attest to the fact that living in new york state is like living in two very different worlds, there is much divide in this state and a definite political imbalance it is 7 million Upstate and Western NY vs 17 million of NYC and Long Island voting power.

every decision revolves around NYC from ridiculous laws like the SAFE ACT higher taxes overall to help fund the big city projects, all of our representatives are in the pockets of the wealthy corporate overlords of wall street.

the time has come for the state to split, it is just to large of geographic area mostly forest, mountains, and farmland. to be controlled by a relatively small mega-dense urban culture.

This is something i have tried to explain and argue to many of the people from NYC that i have came across many times as they come rolling through our small mountain town (with gigantic Yachts and RV's and the entire Cabellas catalog in their possession) you don't really need all of that junk to go "camping".

today its only a dream but one day perhaps it will happen.

Sounds like a good idea!
NYC is in it's own bubble nationally too. I don't know how the place can even be considered part of the U.S.

i think it may be possible to do a Crimean type Referendum gain enough support and take it to the federal level, even if most of NYC disagrees. Is it even constitutional possible to proclaim a new state if there is enough support from the local populace the grounds being unequal state representation?

You can count one vote here from Otsego, I don't know anybody from around my parts that wouldn't want this.

Heh.. I live in Essex. The original one, in England.

It's funny you know, because we are relatively close to London here, and I have heard rumours that some bunch of bankers is trying to make London it's very own little thing, not a part of the UK anymore.

Thing is, I am damned if some bunch of limp wristed pencil pushers are stealing my nations capital out from under the people. It's bad enough that the place is near enough owned by entities outside the country, but to make it official would be a step too far... Tread on an Englishmans toes and all that....

Mind you, New York is not the capital of your country, so I can understand your wish to subvert its power. I imagine the city is like a cancer to you guys, living out of the way, but still having to accept laws which work better in densely urbanised locales.

You know, for Crimean style referendum you need bunch of Russian soldiers who officially don't wear their uniforms. It might be hard to get them inside the USA. On the plus side, when you already have them, the referendum is guaranteed to be a landslide victory, regardless of local population opinion.

EDIT: The new state would be a red or blue one?

i would think mostly blue state, but it would be better if it was affiliated to the Common Sense Party.

So in rather polarized the USA, where is indeed sometimes embarrassing lack of cooperation on line GOP vs. Dems, instead you divide one blue state in to two blue states?

(maybe as a foreigner I simply don't get)

you are correct. NYC is very much a cancer on all of us up here, if it was not for strong family ties with the land and mountains up here i think many of us would defect to Vermont.

I am not sure on how the UK operates what forms of representation do you guys have over their, provinces? magistrates or is it local government official from each city reports to London?

honestly i can say the 2 party system is just for show they may appear to disagree and be opposed to one another however it is my strong belief that they are indeed working together for the Corporations and it is all just a sham.

red state, blue state. it doesn't really matter the Constitutional Republic is long dead it is now a Corporate Oligarchy.

also, in NY state it is more of an issue of Culture. City vs Rural 2 very different looks on life.

I regularly hear people claiming that if their region/country becomes independent/more autonomic all their problems would be suddenly solved. (Of course out of crowd of people who overestimate their close neighbours governance skill, there are also some people who actually have a point). Anyway, do you have some pools or any other reasonable evidence showing that you would get Common Sense Party in management?
