Hey Randy I have been following this thread & it's GREAT!
just curious since the dogs could not pick up a scent...
how many other 411 cases were there where the dogs
could not trace a scent? That is rare. Thank you for an awesome
& well kept thread!

Cheers
Ektar

Ektar, I just finished reading the 4th Missing 411 book, Devil's in the Details. At the end, Paulides lists cases with similarities such as "last in line," "disabled or injured," "weather conditions," etc. Surprisingly, he didn't compile a list in this book of cases where canines wouldn't track. I can assure you that it's an oddly recurring theme throughout many cases -- probably more than 50-100 in the four books. He says the dogs either seem frightened or they simply don't pick up a scent. Happens over and over, and these are trained SAR dogs that "live to track" according to Paulides. Very odd.

Yes the canines "not doing their job" they are trained for &
they do live for it because they love to work. I have working
dogs & they LIVE to work sheep.
I have a friend that use to be in search & rescue & I will ask
her about this the next time I see her. She might be coming
to work her dogs on Wed. If so I will report back.

Cheers
Ektar

Could be

Are there any details in any of the cases of where exactly the dogs stop or loose interest? I mean, it's obviously not like they're following a clear set of footprints which just happen to stop by a big boulder with scuff marks around it: "Hm, nothing suspicious here lads. Carry on".

On the other hand, if whatever is doing this does indeed originate from underground, then "it" would most likely be skilled at concealing an entrance.

I don't know, just thinking out loud here

It's not that they lose interest. The way he describes it, they never show any interest in the first place. Or, the canines' reaction is fear/nervousness. So, they never start tracking. Paulides sometimes says that the dogs walk in a circle and then lie down.

Equally puzzling is the number of people who go missing with their dogs, and then the dog shows up days later by itself, completely dry and fed when it was raining outside the whole time.

And that is the truly creepiest thing I've heard and
lets examine that to the first point. Why are the dogs spared
and they humans not spared? What difference is there? If what was
taking people for meat surely dog meat would be just as good.

I think I have an answer to this part of the puzzle.

Because people have a soul?

Go'in to google again.

BINGO!

John 8:44New International Version (NIV)

44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Maybe it is conversely because dogs have a soul...

Or perhaps better stated, dogs have a simpler, easier to understand nature. Which might seem more unpredictable, and thus dangerous, to a creature to which we are both unknown? Dog or Man?
Just a thought...

Randy, I could not agree more. This is another reason why I find myself utterly obsessed with these strange disappearances. What keeps me up at night is the question of motivation. But, evil is its own motivation, isn't it? I think these things are preying off our fear and pain, true serial killers but with supernatural abilities. It's not new. There are many biblical and historical references. Think of the old Indian legends of shape shifters. We're way out of our league.

It just ties in so perfectly to the spirit world. And our best guide thru that
world? Has been provided. And upon seeing these things run thru my life.
I have no choice but to thank God for his guidance

Just bought paulides book missing 411 after reading this whole thread, it's crazy that 700,000 people go missing every year in the US, that's over 10,000 people a week, very scary indeed

I don't know if that's an official number, but it's a number I've seen mentioned a few times when reading various articles or watching videos, if that number is anywhere near true then it's a genuinely scary number of people to be reported missing every year, plus there's the bodies they find that they can't identify at all and don't match any missing persons reported in the area, where do 700,000 people disappear too?!

Edit : just did a quick Google and apparently it's 2300 people a day!!!

And a quarter million a year in Briton. This is staggering even knowing not all are mysterious
and unsolved. But a good percent of the ones that are solved have to be blamed on innocent people.

A crazy amount of people, let's just say 10 percent of these reported missing people are never found, that's 70,000 unexplainable missing people in the US, and 25,000 people in the UK, and God knows how many more around the world!

Damn you Furryhob!

The other night, my wife must have been sleep walking.
And our boy heard her flop on the floor at the foot of our
bed pretty solid. So he got up from the couch in the living
room and came in our room. Saw here laying there and woke
her up. Then I woke up and said, "Alright that's it! If we're
gonna start have'n paranormal activity around here? I'm
freak'n gone. I'm not put'n up with", and on and on I went.

I had 'em both sit'n on our bed laugh'n their asses off.
Pretty funny.

Agreed again. It's important to remember the "Greater is He who is within you..." concept when thinking of these things in spiritual terms, no matter how intimidating or bizarre the adversary might seem. I've seen this work in my own life and I, too, am grateful for God's guidance and protection. Even if these unseen "serial killers" are not of this world, they're still within the world when they make these people disappear, so I believe that 1 John 4:4 still applies.
