In this image Sol 644, you can see a mysterious dark-colored object, flying a short distance from the rover "Curiosity" on the left on the hills of the red planet. The dark object appears to be flying at an not very high altitude. The object does not appear to be a "speck of dust" or "Cosmic Ray" on the lens of the NAVCAM Rover, otherwise it would have been blurred over the background.

Something similar in Sol 643... mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

Nah..enlightened ETs only use natural and enviromentally friendly Hemp derived plastics and composites for building.

Not a rock..it's a plant!

That second image looks like it has a plume or trail behind it OP...could it be a meteor skimming the atmosphere?

Hey Arken,

The subject pics (mars.jpl.nasa.gov...) seem to show a speck of dust on the lens. This is quite common - especially after a particularly breezy period. I would be interested in seeing if pics are around that actually show any fines being driven by the wind (the Martian ground appears blurry-ish in such events, with some swirling of fines being visible, sometimes). The speck of dust usually drops away from the lens very soon after being deposited. But not always. Thus far.

Cool. But common.

img3.wikia.nocookie.net... It's clearly a Bloatfly from The Fallout 3. I would take it down with a 32 pistol, or silenced 10 mm pistol available after diligent scrounging. Really no big surprise.

Nice catch Arken. What does the object appear to be in the left NAVCAM image taken at the same time?

^^^^^^^^ That might be a clue.
