"Dark Object" hovering above the hills? Curiosity Sol 643, 644.

In this image Sol 644, you can see a mysterious dark-colored object, flying a short distance from the rover "Curiosity" on the left on the hills of the red planet. The dark object appears to be flying at an not very high altitude. The object does not appear to be a "speck of dust" or "Cosmic Ray" on the lens of the NAVCAM Rover, otherwise it would have been blurred over the background.

That second image looks like it has a plume or trail behind it OP...could it be a meteor skimming the atmosphere?

Hey Arken,

The subject pics (mars.jpl.nasa.gov...) seem to show a speck of dust on the lens. This is quite common - especially after a particularly breezy period. I would be interested in seeing if pics are around that actually show any fines being driven by the wind (the Martian ground appears blurry-ish in such events, with some swirling of fines being visible, sometimes). The speck of dust usually drops away from the lens very soon after being deposited. But not always. Thus far.

Nice catch Arken. What does the object appear to be in the left NAVCAM image taken at the same time?

WHy dont you just use your VATS? Its so cool how it makes time seem to stop. You can even shoot the wings off of them if your skills good enough.
