“Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law” Matthew 10:34-35
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
"If those who lead you say to you, 'look, the Kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds will get there first. If they say 'it's in the ocean,' then the fish will get there first. But the Kingdom of God is within you and outside of you. Once you come to know yourselves, you will become known. And you will know that it is you who are the children of the living father."
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
The ''hippie'' or the ''nice guy'' Jesus imagery has been used by christian groups to gain converts. Basically its ''Jesus loves you and died for you so accept him to be saved'' every time. That is an appeal to emotion, which still fails because logically anybody would - if they can - ''save'' someone they love, even if that person doesnt love them back. This ''lovey dovey'' saviour Jesus is also not the Jesus of the Bible.
Optimussubprime..... The "hippie Jesus"... the Jesus from the movie "Son of God", is NOT the Jesus of the Bible.
Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

using only the Bible as a source, we read that Jesus will drive away many who call him ''Lord'', ie- Christians who obviously loved him and expected Jesus to 'love' them as they were taught to believe. Ouch. Not very lovey dovey is it?

skorpion : This ''lovey dovey'' saviour Jesus is also not the Jesus of the Bible. Flyersfan : Actually .... he IS.
youre the one bringing up islam. Im reading from the bible, not the muslim view. The gospels clearly say jesus would drive away many among the ONLY people who call him 'Lord', i.e , Christians. Thats what the verse says, so there is no 'twisting'.

Typical ... you take the reading out of context and twist it to fit the Muslim view of Jesus.

@akragon, the verse refers clearly to christians, as they are the only ones who call Jesus 'Lord'. if the people he rejects are those who choose whom they give their love to, it still points to christians who were commanded by jesus to 'love' even their enemies.
