Ecovillage-have you ever been there or lived there?

Not so long ago one of my friends wrote me about his plans to go and live in eco-village.

I was thinking about ecological way of life for a long time: how to save energy, how to save food, how to collect rubbish, how to save money and so one...but living full time in eco-village is for me like going to pure, crystal island, but building everything from the beginning to the end. And learn how to live with people in nature.

Some people say that idea of ecovillages is like living in hippies commune.

What are your experiences with ecovillages?

Maybe you've got neighbours, friends, family, which decided to move from town to ecovillage?

I have not, nor do I know anyone who has. But, I would be interested too in hearing from anyone who has a personal experience with an ecovillage. I've looked into them online, but don't have the means at the moment to pursue.

In both indonesia and malaysia they have tourist resorts set up that way ..
Visited the malaysia one back in 05 was rather nice ..

As to living around other people no thanks prefer overall to stay far from people these days .. dont need busybodies around to tell me how to live my life ..

I thought that here is much more people who know the thing...experienced something with ecovillages.
