Why do all these scenarios assume that the aliens can communicate and understand us? They apparently are so good at it, they can blend in and even PRETEND to be humans. That is absurd! We are talking about a life form that evolved completely independent from any life form on this planet, has zero genetic makeup with us, may even have a vastly different means of communicating between each other yet somehow can still bridge all these gaps and not only communicate with us, they can also understand us? Then they use this new information to destroy us wasting all that time learning how we communicate.

This would also seem to be the problem with a computer-based attack.

Exactly. Not to mention, a direct attack causes awareness of the attacked to be aware of the attacker, meaning that the attacked will be able to mount a defense if not a counterattack. While the success of humans being able to defend or counterattack an attack from an alien species is dubious at best, there is still the chance that the aliens could suffer casualties through a real, known attack. Meanwhile a virus or any other assault hidden behind natural processes (like affecting global climate change) diverts the defender's attention away from the real threat.

Like I said originally, aliens directly attacking us is a creation of hollywood and science fiction writers. It is inefficient and costly while at the same time could cause harm to them if the wrong things happen. Meanwhile, carrying out an attack with the enemy's knowledge could go uncontested throughout the process. It makes more sense and considering that we are under the assumption that the aliens are FAR beyond us technologically, this makes more sense than conventional warfare.

If alien invaders wanted to cripple earth ready for domination what weapon would they choose? Well its my theory that they would use a computer viruses and this is how I believe it could happen

Infect all defense systems and permanently deactivate
infect all communication systems and permanently deactivate
Infect all electrical power generation and distribution systems and permanently deactivate
Wait until earthlings descend into chaos
Dominate puny humans

I would think a world wide EMP would do it much better, fry chip sets making it impossible (or extremely hard) to get the grid back online.

Fatten them up and dumb them down. Open an intergalactic Kentucky Fried Human franchise.

Hahaha, could work. Farm them on the asteroid out back, keep a good supply of the secret herbs and spices.

What intelligent race created this weapon?

If alien invaders really wanted to, they could knock all the satellites from orbit, knocking out a good portion of communications and observations. They would have a much easier time getting to our satellites, then we would have.

Thats the benefit of having a land line, good old crude, cheap technology. I bet most militarizes only use in case of emergencies. And it probably harder to hack then wireless.

Did you see this aircraft eject the red "plasma"?

If so you could have witnessed an aircraft that had a molten metal cooled reactor.

en.m.wikipedia.org...

I personally think that a few early black projects had them. There are reports of aircraft ejecting molten material.

Just wondering.

To the op.

They would already have us figured out. Before they get here.

The movies are great, but aliens would probably underestimate what a bunch of crazyhumans with nothing to lose can do.

No...I did not see the aircraft eject the fiery red-orange plasma, since the starship was in a landing phase, which usually requires a ball of fire, in order to burn away any brush or trees for a decent landing attempt. I tend to speculate that any such landing attempt with a fiery balled foofighter --- without also causing the rest of the forest too burn down --- is quite beyond our human technological capabilities.

Though I can't verify [because radar data on the event is probably a U.S. DOD classified document] what happened on the night in November of 1976, approximately 40 miles west of Washington D.C., the flying machine [foofighter] appeared to be intelligently controlled and not of this earth.

I think aliens are so far advanced that there is nothing we could say that they would find interesting. Perhaps they might be interested in our art or music. So it might be a safe bet to learn a good trick to do to keep you from being dissected.

Um... ok... But still in any case you didn't address my point that the aliens don't even have to be in orbit around our planet to mutate and distribute the virus. It could all be done with robotics remotely.

Personally...I wouldn't want to send a robot to do a human's job, just because of the possibility that a robot could go bonkers, or slip into the wrong hands; without me knowing it.

You must understand you are dealing with an intelligence so far advanced so as to dwarf human intelligence and possessing a corresponding technology. That understood the invasion scenarios you have projected are for dated sci-fi movies. The way of the takeover, which might be going on now, is staring you in the face - Yes your apparently friendly calculating machine - computers. And the artificial intelligence humans are now playing with is too late - Alien intelligence will take over first and you will be completely under 'their' [the aliens] control - And the aliens will never have had to show their presence [and prefer not ] until the take over is complete.

Had a post on this about a year ago here on ATS:

Aliens are taking over the Planet Earth

bide their time and they don,t need to do anything, we,r intent in destroying each other

They would most surely invade before we destroyed ourselves, why would they let their cattle population shrink after such a bumper crop this last 100 years or so.

I agree other than we are finger licking good.... What else would a human be worth to an alien millions of years advance.

Think about it. We take over animal habitats in all parts of the world; we study the animals; most of the animals we're not going to eat but we still find them interesting, colorful and amusing. Look at human history; to most intelligent humans it appears most often tragic - to an advanced alien mind it may be amusing - even funny. We domestic many different animals - maybe they're sizing humans up for domestication? Or maybe, just maybe humans will evolve enough for them to see us as allies

Yeah nice SCI FI movie but the reality is more likely if aliens do exist and not letting us know thats bad. Means either they consider us such a lower life form as to be insignificant for example a farmer wouldnt try talk to a cow and attempt a conversation. This brings up option two since the farmer considers the cow a lower life form farmer thinks its ok to cage and or eat said cow. And than theirs option 3 there purposely hiding because they see us as a threat and they know they need to destroy us. Any of the above options arent good for humanity so lets hope the aliens just havnt shown up yet.

I agree BUT too much evidence, even if circumstantial, seems to indicate they have shown up - Better to consider that rather than to deny it and say nothing has been proven in an absolute sense. Could Man do anything about it if they are here and real? OK, have it your way, pretend nothing is happening and maybe they'll go away? But don't bet on it.

Actually I do not think we or anything on this planet would be very health or tasty to an alien. If we think about it, we eat what we eat based on million of years of what earth has provided us. I would be surprised if earth is not mostly poisonous to an alien.

That's weird - Not that I disagree in that being possible as it might be but I would not bet on that either AND I can't recall ever posting or saying it in the first place - See what I mean, the aliens are already taking over the web and distorting the info - clever those aliens aren't they
