The New Testament makes a point of saying that Jesus was higher than the angels.
The Angel of the Lord is Jesus.

Says who?
The Angel of Yahweh was a Christophany.
Jesus preached the gospel. So did the Apostles.
Jesus was an angel in the sense that He was His Father's messenger, not in the sense that He was an angelic being.
More as a prophet.
During His ministry, Jesus delivered His Father's message.
