The skyscraper prophecy and the beginning of the end times.

sk0rpi0n You and I normally disagree a lot but from my own observation and seeking you are spot on that we live in the days when things are revealed on a level never known to humanity before and that seeking god is probably the wisest thing a being can do during these times.

They are very different books and traditions, but they have their roots in that same ancient family feud found in the OT story of Abraham, Sarah, and her handmaiden Hagar. God promised Abraham a son and heir, but Sarah was afraid she was too old, so she urged him to be unfaithful and have a child with their servant, Hagar. This first child and son was Ishmael. Later, when Sarah fulfilled God's promise and gave birth to Isaac, Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away.

The story goes that Ishmael is the source of Mohammad's bloodline and the source of all the bad feelings and unrest between Arabs and Jews in the ME today.

It's a cautionary tale against marital infidelity and refusing to trust God when he makes a promise. And Abraham really didn't treat Hagar and Ishmael at all well, IMO.

So, it's not necessarily wrong to see that they could be related and bound together supernaturally/theologically when it all comes right down to the end.

Unfaithful? The bible says Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham to be his WIFE.

Torah says God wanted Abraham to behead his only son while Ishaq was the second son. Ishaq was not the only son. Their insistence that name of Abram and Sarai changed to Abraham and Sarah is to say the letter "h" is from Ishaq. while they are wrong. They say this because of their racism. Of course the covenant was given to Ishaq first But the letter "h" is from Ishmael and it was given to Abraham. "h" is the fifth Hebrew alphabet and sign of five glory names. Muhammad, Fatima, Ali, Hassan, Hussain.

ok but thats out of the scope of this thread. I had second thoughts about responding to Ketsuko, but I had to point out that his/her claim that Abraham was ''urged'' to be ''unfaithful''.

are you referring to the Babylonian ziggurats? this prophecy refers to those who were once poor sheperds and bedouins.. Who would be COMPETING to build tall buildings. Those people are today the arab elite, who through oil money build towers for the sake of showing off.

That was not the issue I raised, I wondered if what he is supposed to have said, and remember this was not written down at his time of life but later, was in fact a prophesy or a mere comment about the past?

We all as we get older know that cycles repeat themselves and we literally progress from a round and round perspective that merely shifts a few degrees further on each round, rarely a significant leap into the future.

I wonder if the rest of the world did not have skyscrapers would the Arabs have bothered with them or stuck to the older type of ziggurat/temple?

Building high is a very wide thing to interpret and who got to say what is a prophesy and what is not? The whole idea of the end of times is linked to what people are told are prophesies, so its a good selling point for religion, but its been used and used in infinity and although we know our planet decides to shake about, we have never died out yet completely. So the 'end of times' seems more like a hackneyed phrase for scare mongering.

I see the intelligence in what you are saying about where we keep our cell phones but again it seems so very vague and in one's keenness to keep faith is it not possible that clutching at straws on interpretation is also a possibility? I do go back to the point that what Mohammad said was not written down at the time it was said and interpretation and memory which was not firsthand have to be taken into account with any religious text.

Incidentally my phone is in my top pocket because a trouser pocket is not easy to get at if sitting or driving.

I already told you he prophesied the arabs competing to build tall buildings as a sign of the end times. He was NOT talking about the past. And that prophecy was recorded during Mohammads own lifetime.

the cellphone prophecy isnt vague. He gave the example of a man keeping a cellphone in his front pocket who gets to know whats going on at home. His point was that communication tech would have been so developed that a man could know what was going on at a given place without actually being there. And the skyscraper prophecy was written at a time when Mohammad was alive.

besides how could Mohammad have known that people would be 'hopping' between the earth and clouds durig the end times? any traveller by plane basically leaves the Earth, soars to the clouds and lands on another spot on earth. You basically 'hop' each time you go from one city to another.

You are wasting your existence.

Considering the only thing we know with certainty is that we exist, and as far as we can say for certain we only have one life on this planet, you should spend it enjoying life and all of the wonders of the world, not getting anxious about the end of the world.

All holy texts speak of the end of the world, people proclaim this is the end all the time, but it NEVER happens.
The world will not end, we will spread to another planet sooner or later and then the destruction of humanity becomes extremely hard.

But this is beside the point, I feel sorry for all of the people out there preoccupied with religious doctrine and the "end of the world". Enjoy the life you have having fun, learning about the real world and the wonders of life, not worrying about the end of the world.

If its all going to end sooner or later surely that's more of an impetus to go and enjoy the time you have, not waiting for it to happen, go out and enjoy the world!

it gets even more interesting. how could mohammad have known that Iran, of All places would have a large number of JEWS during the end times? after 1948 most jews migrated to israel. yet iran has a population of around 25k jews , iran has the second largest population of jews in the middle east, second only to israel.
